EliYah's message:

HalleluYah!!!

Tonight I would like to discuss an important attribute of Yahweh

We know from the scriptures that Yahweh is Holy

Tonight, I would like to share a study on the holiness of Yahweh's name

Let's first examine the scriptures that reveal the holiness of Yahweh's name:

Isaiah 57:15 - For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

Psalms 111:9 - He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.

In His holy name we can glory:

Psalms 105:3 - Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek YAHWEH.

In His holy name we can trust:

Psalms 33:21 - For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.

In His holy name we can give thanks:

Psalms 106:47 - Save us, O YAHWEH our Elohim, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.

And it is His name that we bless:

Psalms 103:1 - Bless YAHWEH, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

Psalms 145:1 - I will extol thee, my Elohim, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever.

Daniel 2:20 - Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of Elohim for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:

Daniel 2:21 - And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

Daniel 2:22 - He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.

Miriam, the mother of Yahushua, declared the holiness of Yahweh's name:

Luke 1:46 - And Mary said, My soul doth magnify YAHWEH,

Luke 1:47 - And my spirit hath rejoiced in Elohim my Saviour.

Luke 1:48 - For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

Luke 1:49 - For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.

Yahushua confirmed the holiness of His name and expects us to declare it often:

Matthew 6:9 - After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

This is what we declare daily in our prayer, that His name is holy/set apart

One day, His name will be fully glorified:

Revelation 15:3 - They sing the song of Moses, the servant of YAHWEH, and the song of the Lamb, saying: "Great and marvelous are Your works, O YAHWEH El-Shaddai! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints!

Revelation 15:4 - Who shall not fear You, OYAHWEH, and glorify Your name? For [You] alone are holy. For all nations shall come and worship before You, for Your judgments have been manifested."

Now, many would like to say that the word name only means his "Character" and not His literal written and spoken name, "Yahweh".

Thus, when a scripture tells us to praise, exalt, bless, love, teach, preach, anoint, assemble, believe, give thanks, or honor His name, it only means to do those things unto the character of Yahweh.

One problem with that is His character and His name are inseparable.

Part of His character is that He has a name and it is Yahweh.

Another problem is that the word "Shem"(translated "name") means more than just character. Let's examine the Strong's Hebrew Lexicon for the word "Shem", translated "Name":

8034 shem shame a primitive word (perhaps rather from 7760 through the idea of definite and conspicuous position; Compare 8064); an appellation, as a mark or memorial of individuality; by implication honor, authority, character:--+ base, (in-)fame(-ous), named(-d), renown, report.

As you can see from the above definition, Yahweh's name is not only represents His character but the name Yahweh is also His "mark". The literal written and spoken name is His mark. When Yahweh says:

Isaiah 42:8 - I am YAHWEH: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

He is Yahweh. That is His name. To declare anything else is false.

To say it only means "character" also misses the point that the literal written and spoken name "Yahweh" is found nearly 7000 times in scripture.

Sadly, nearly all modern translations take it out of scripture... nearly 7,000 times :(

We are instructed to call upon that name:

Psalms 105:1 - O give thanks unto YAHWEH; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.

Psalms 105:2 - Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.

Psalms 105:3 - Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek YAHWEH.

The Name Yahweh also is His memorial of individuality. Yahweh has chosen the literal written and spoken name "Yahweh" to represent His character and person. Should we invent another? Surely no

The above definition in the Strong's Lexicon says that His name is "a mark or memorial". This agrees well with scripture:

Exodus 3:15 - And Elohim said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, YAHWEH Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Abraham, the Elohim of Isaac, and the Elohim of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.

Therefore, it is a great error to say that scripture only supports a name meaning "character". It is neither character nor spoken name alone, it is BOTH.

In fact, Yahweh identifies His people as calling on His literal written and spoken name:

Zechariah 13:8 - And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith YAHWEH, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.

Zechariah 13:9 - And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, YAHWEH is my Elohim.

Is that not beautiful?

It is important to mention that when someone believes in, and proclaims the name of Yahweh, a certain righteous character must come to mind.

When the name of Yahweh is spoken, He wants His holy character to come to the minds of all men.

He wants His holy character to be manifest and He wants it to be under the literal written and spoken name, "Yahweh"

If He didn't, He surely would not have placed at all in scripture!

There are various ways that one can profane His holy name. Profaning His name is something that Yahweh clearly forbids:

Leviticus 18:21 - And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy Elohim: I am YAHWEH.

Leviticus 19:12 - And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy Elohim: I am YAHWEH.

Leviticus 20:2 - Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel, Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of his seed unto Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones.

Leviticus 20:3 - And I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto Molech, to defile my sanctuary, and to profane my holy name.

Notice that a way of profaning His name is associated with unrighteous acts

Leviticus 21:6 - They shall be holy unto their Elohim, and not profane the name of their Elohim: for the offerings of YAHWEH made by fire, and the bread of their Elohim, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.

Leviticus 22:2 - Speak unto Aaron and to his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel, and that they profane not my holy name in those things which they hallow unto me: I am YAHWEH.

Leviticus 22:32 - Neither shall ye profane my holy name; but I will be hallowed among the children of Israel: I am YAHWEH which hallow you,

Look at how often Yahweh repeats this concept!

Given that Yahweh is very concerned that His holy name be not profaned, it is clear that we should be also.

For it is an abomination to profane the holiness of Yahweh

Malachi 2:11 - Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of YAHWEH which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange el.

What does it mean to "profane"?

According to Brown Drivers Briggs Hebrew Lexicon, in the Piel form (The form used in these scriptures), "chalal" (#2490) means:

(Piel) 1b1) to profane, make common, defile, pollute 1b2) to violate the honour of, dishonour 1b3) to violate (a covenant) 1b4) to treat as common

As we have seen, Yahweh's name is holy/set apart.

It is not like other names, it must be treated with honor and respect. It must be hallowed, even in our worship and offerings of praise.

Yahweh must be given the best:

Malachi 1:11 - For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith YAHWEH of hosts.

Malachi 1:12 - But ye have profaned it, in that ye say, The table of YAHWEH is polluted; and the fruit thereof, even his meat, is contemptible.

Malachi 1:13 - Ye said also, Behold, what a weariness is it! and ye have snuffed at it, saith YAHWEH of hosts; and ye brought that which was torn, and the lame, and the sick; thus ye brought an offering: should I accept this of your hand? saith YAHWEH.

Malachi 1:14 - But cursed be the deceiver, which hath in his flock a male, and voweth, and sacrificeth unto YAHWEH a corrupt thing: for I am a great King, saith YAHWEH of hosts, and my name is dreadful among the heathen.

We read in scripture that our praises toward Yahweh are sacrifices:

Hebrews 13:15 - Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to YAHWEH, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.

Psalms 107:22 - And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.

Psalms 116:17 - I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of YAHWEH.

When we make an offering of praise to Yahweh, should it not be pure?

What is on our mind when we praise Yahweh? On what does our heart meditate? The greatness of Yahweh or other things?

We read in Malachi that offering defective animals was never accepted by Yahweh, why would He accept any half-hearted song of praise? Yahweh help us!

Yahweh must accept the offerings that we give. He can choose accept them or reject them (Remember Cain and Abel?). We need to be sure that He accepts them. He is to be given the best, and be regarded as holy! We must worship Him in holiness:

1Chronicles 16:29 - Give unto YAHWEH the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship YAHWEH in the beauty of holiness.

Psalms 29:2 - Give unto YAHWEH the glory due unto his name; worship YAHWEH in the beauty of holiness.

Psalms 96:9 - O worship YAHWEH in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.

We can also profane Yahweh's name by sinful actions. For example:

Amos 2:6 - Thus saith YAHWEH; For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes;

Amos 2:7 - That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same maid, to profane my holy name:

In the above scripture, we see that sexual immorality is one way of profaning the name of Yahweh.

Especially if we are in a position of leadership and we do not glorify Yahweh's name in our actions, but we sin instead, then we bring reproach upon Yahweh's name. Remember when David sinned:

2Samuel 12:13 - And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against YAHWEH. And Nathan said unto David, YAHWEH also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.

2Samuel 12:14 - Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of YAHWEH to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.

Now, it is true that we can go to the other extreme.

Some, especially many who are in the messianic movement, believe that Yahweh's name is 'too holy to be pronounced' and that by simply speaking the name we somehow make it common or profaned.

But this doctrine has no support in scripture. Never once in the scriptures are we told to Hide His name...but rather to exalt and praise it!

Psalms 34:3 - O magnify YAHWEH with me, and let us exalt his name together.

Psalms 148:13 - Let them praise the name of YAHWEH: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven.

Psalms 44:8 - In Elohim we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.

Isaiah 12:2 - Behold, El is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for YAH YAHWEH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

Isaiah 12:3 - Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.

Isaiah 12:4 - And in that day shall ye say, Praise YAHWEH, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.

His name was used in casual conversation in several scriptures. For instance, Boaz and the reapers:

Ruth 2:4 - And behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said unto the reapers, YAHWEH be with you. And they answered him, YAHWEH bless thee.

Notice that neither Boaz or the reapers said "Adonai" or "HaShem" in this verse. This practice is a tradition not condoned or based anywhere in scripture.

Why do people always think they can do better than Yahweh?

1Samuel 12:20 - And Samuel said unto the people, Fear not: ye have done all this wickedness: yet turn not aside from following YAHWEH, but serve YAHWEH with all your heart;

Notice that Samuel did NOT say "turn not aside from following Adonai/the Lord/HaShem, but serve Adonai/the Lord/HaShem with all your heart", but rather he said "turn not aside from following Yahweh, but serve Yahweh with all your heart".

But this is what many people say today when reading this very scripture!

This is what most all translations will have in this verse

This is an unscriptural practice and it in effect says Yahweh, "What you wrote almost 7000 times isn't what should have been written, therefore we need to change it!".

However, we should also be careful not go to the other extreme and profane His name by our actions. Scripture says that His people wear His name:

Revelation 14:1 - Then I looked, and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His name and His Father's name written on their foreheads.

We MUST declare the name of Yahweh in righteousness and holiness!

I believe that we have an opportunity in this age, for the world does not know His name as given by HIM.

We have the opportunity to proclaim it in righteousness.. not mixed with the paganism but in total purity.

We must take this call VERY seriously! How we live our lives will determine how the world views "Yahweh".

There are people out there right now proclaiming His name who believe that Jews & blacks are non-human and of a mongrel breed. This makes me sick!

We MUST

We MUST proclaim His name in righteousness

Will we stand firm?

Will we indeed have the faith that Yahushua is looking for?

Will we answer the call to Repent?

I pray so..

Consider the example that Yahweh left us when the children of Israel were scattered:

Ezekiel 36:17 - Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own way and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman.

Ezekiel 36:18 - Wherefore I poured my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and for their idols wherewith they had polluted it:

Ezekiel 36:19 - And I scattered them among the heathen, and they were dispersed through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged them.

Ezekiel 36:20 - And when they entered unto the heathen, whither they went, they profaned my holy name, when they said to them, These are the people of YAHWEH, and are gone forth out of his land.

Ezekiel 36:21 - But I had pity for mine holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the heathen, whither they went.

Ezekiel 36:22 - Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Master YAHWEH; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name's sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went.

What is Yahweh about to do for His holy name's sake?

Ezekiel 36:23 - And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am YAHWEH, saith the Master YAHWEH, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.

Ezekiel 36:24 - For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.

Ezekiel 36:25 - Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

Ezekiel 36:26 - A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

Ezekiel 36:27 - And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

Ezekiel 36:28 - And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your Elohim.

All because Yahweh has concern for His Holy/Set-apart Name!

Though it may not matter to most people, Yahweh is very concerned with His character in the name of Yahweh

Therefore, we should also be concerned

I pray that we will answer the call to sanctify ourselves and sanctify His name. Let's depart from the ways of the world and be seperate/holy! Only then can we magnify His name

We must be different and set apart from the mainstream. In regards to keeping Yahweh's name holy, let us not go to the right hand nor to the left.

Let's neither say we should stop using the name nor fail to proclaim it in righteousness and holiness. Let's take the straight and narrow path that few find! We will be blessed; we can be assured that we will be blessed because of the name we bear:

Psalms 118:26 - Blessed be he that cometh in the name of YAHWEH: we have blessed you out of the house of YAHWEH.

And for His name's sake into righteousness we will be lead:

Psalms 23:3 - He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

May we not only be led unto righteousness, but may we also walk therein. For it is then that we can glorify Yahweh, worship Him in holiness, exalt it the way it should be exalted, and bring it the holiness it deserves.

It is time, brethren!

Let's Repent!

Let's go forth!

Let's glorify His name!

As Yahushua said, "Father, Glorify Your Name!!"

May Yahweh bless you and may He have mercy on us all!

End
