YermeYah's message:

Shalom all and Praise YHWH as we near His Feast of Sukkot...
The thing that I am going to share this evening is "Putting YHWH first."
This study is not all-inclusive by any means, but it does present some ideas that I hope will be fruitful in my life as well as those who hear it...

Luke 11:34 - The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.

Luke 11:35 - Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.

Luke 11:36 - If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.

For an illustration of this in YHWH's Word, let us turn to Proverbs...

Proverbs 4:25 - Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

Proverbs 4:26 - Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

Proverbs 4:27 - Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.

Proverbs 4:19 - The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

And the Torah helps us understand what this means...

Deuteronomy 5:32 - Ye shall observe to do therefore as YHWH your Elohim hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.

By following this instruction, it is our protection...

Proverbs 4:11 - I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.

Proverbs 4:12 - When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

And, what is the most important thing?

Matthew 22:37 - Yahushua said unto him, Thou shalt love YHWH thy Elohim with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Matthew 22:38 - This is the first and great commandment.

What are some ways of accomplishing this?

Exodus 20:7 - Thou shalt not take the name of YHWH thy Elohim in vain; for YHWH will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

And as EliYah the propet said...

1Kings 18:21 - And EliYah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if YHWH be Elohim, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

Yes, it is extremely important to use the true name of our Father and to not accept the substitute lord in place of YHWH, baal = lord

Psalms 9:10 - And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, YHWH, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

And for the eventual outcome of those who refuse to heed this instruction...

Psalms 79:6 - Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.

Concerning the Sabbath...

Exodus 20:8 - Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Exodus 20:9 - Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

Exodus 20:10 - But the seventh day is the sabbath of YHWH thy Elohim: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

Even we who recognise the 7th day as Sabbath must beware...

Isaiah 58:13 - If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of YHWH, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

Isaiah 58:14 - Then shalt thou delight thyself in YHWH; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of YHWH hath spoken it.

The Sabbath is a Feast along with all of YHWH's other Feasts...

Leviticus 23:1 - And YHWH spake unto Moses, saying,

Leviticus 23:2 - Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of YHWH, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.

Leviticus 23:3 - Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of YHWH in all your dwellings.

Leviticus 23:4 - These are the feasts of YHWH, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.

And we are approaching the Feast of Sukkot (Tabernacles), one of YHWH's commanded Feasts, HalleluYAH!!!
And we are approaching the Feast of Sukkot (Tabernacles), one of YHWH's commanded Feasts, HalleluYAH!!!
Putting YHWH first means putting Yahushua first!

Matthew 10:37 - He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

Matthew 10:38 - And he that taketh not his stake, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

Matthew 10:39 - He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

Matthew 10:40 - He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

Matthew 10:41 - He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

Matthew 10:42 - And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

And again stressing the importance of putting the truth ahead of our own interests...

Matthew 16:24 - Then said Yahushua unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his stake, and follow me.

Matthew 16:25 - For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

Matthew 16:26 - For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

John 12:24 - Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

John 12:25 - He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

John 12:26 - If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

Other ways of putting YHWH first...

1Chronicles 16:8 - Give thanks unto YHWH, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.

1Chronicles 16:9 - Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works.

1Chronicles 16:10 - Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek YHWH.

1Chronicles 16:11 - Seek YHWH and his strength, seek his face continually.

1Chronicles 16:12 - Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

1Chronicles 16:13 - O ye seed of Israel his servant, ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones.

1Chronicles 16:14 - He is YHWH our Elohim; his judgments are in all the earth.

2Chronicles 7:14 - If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Yahushua said...

Luke 11:39 - And Yahushua said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness.

Luke 11:40 - Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without make that which is within also?

Luke 11:41 - But rather give alms of such things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you.

Our Rabbi Yahushua said again....

Luke 12:32 - Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Luke 12:33 - Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.

Luke 12:34 - For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Luke 12:35 - Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;

Luke 12:36 - And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their master, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.

Luke 12:37 - Blessed are those servants, whom the master when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.

Luke 12:38 - And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.

Luke 12:39 - And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.

Luke 12:40 - Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.

Luke 12:41 - Then Kepha said unto him, Rabbi, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all?

Luke 12:42 - And Yahushua said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?

Luke 12:43 - Blessed is that servant, whom his mzster when he cometh shall find so doing.

Luke 12:44 - Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.

Luke 12:45 - But and if that servant say in his heart, My master delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;

Luke 12:46 - The master of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

Luke 12:47 - And that servant, which knew his master's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

Luke 12:48 - But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

Luke 12:49 - I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I if it be already kindled?

Luke 12:50 - But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!

Luke 12:51 - Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:

Luke 12:52 - For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.

Luke 12:53 - The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

Luke 12:54 - And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is.

Luke 12:55 - And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass.

Luke 12:56 - Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?

Luke 12:57 - Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?

Luke 12:58 - When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest he hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison.

Luke 12:59 - I tell thee, thou shalt not depart thence, till thou hast paid the very last mite.

Now turning to the prophet Joel (Yahel)

Joel 2:12 - Therefore also now, saith YHWH, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:

Joel 2:13 - And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto YHWH your Elohim: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

Matthew 6:1 - Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 6:2 - Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Matthew 6:3 - But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

Matthew 6:4 - That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

Matthew 6:5 - And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Matthew 6:6 - But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Matthew 6:16 - Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Matthew 6:17 - But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;

Matthew 6:18 - That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

Matthew 6:19 - Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

Matthew 6:20 - But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

Matthew 6:21 - For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Deuteronomy 5:29 - O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!

YHWH will test us to see if we truly love HIM. He did so with Abraham...

Genesis 22:1 - And it came to pass after these things, that Elohim did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.

Genesis 22:2 - And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

Genesis 22:9 - And they came to the place which Elohim had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.

Genesis 22:10 - And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.

Genesis 22:15 - And the angel of YHWH called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,

Genesis 22:16 - And said, By myself have I sworn, saith YHWH, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:

Genesis 22:17 - That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;

Genesis 22:18 - And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

So, Abraham was rewarded greatly for having YHWH first in his life!
If we have chosen to walk the walk with YHWH, we must always remember...

1Corinthians 6:19 - What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which ye have of YHWH, and ye are not your own?

1Corinthians 6:20 - For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify YHWH in your body, and in your spirit, which are His.

King Shaul was also tested by YHWH, to see if Shaul truly loved YHWH

1Samuel 15:1 - Samuel also said unto Saul, YHWH sent me to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of YHWH.

1Samuel 15:2 - Thus saith YHWH of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.

1Samuel 15:3 - Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.

1Samuel 15:7 - And Saul smote the Amalekites from Havilah until thou comest to Shur, that is over against Egypt.

1Samuel 15:8 - And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.

1Samuel 15:9 - But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.

1Samuel 15:10 - Then came the word of YHWH unto Samuel, saying,

1Samuel 15:11 - It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto YHWH all night.

1Samuel 15:22 - And Samuel said, Hath YHWH as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of YHWH? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

1Samuel 15:23 - For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of YHWH, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

1Samuel 15:30 - Then he said, I have sinned: yet honour me now, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn again with me, that I may worship YHWH thy Elohim.

1Samuel 15:31 - So Samuel turned again after Saul; and Saul worshipped YHWH.

1Samuel 15:32 - Then said Samuel, Bring ye hither to me Agag the king of the Amalekites. And Agag came unto him delicately. And Agag said, Surely the bitterness of death is past.

1Samuel 15:33 - And Samuel said, As thy sword hath made women childless, so shall thy mother be childless among women. And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before YHWH in Gilgal.

1Samuel 15:34 - Then Samuel went to Ramah; and Saul went up to his house to Gibeah of Saul.

1Samuel 15:35 - And Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death: nevertheless Samuel mourned for Saul: and YHWH repented that he had made Saul king over Israel.

King Shaul was put to the test, and he failed!

Psalms 51:16 - For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.

Psalms 51:17 - The sacrifices of Elohim are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O Elohim, thou wilt not despise.

Proverbs 21:3 - To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to YHWH than sacrifice.

Proverbs 21:4 - An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.

ploughing, better "the lamp of the wicked are sin": ie the standards which govern the lives of the wicked
Another way we can fail to put YHWH first, is when we show forth pride!

Proverbs 11:2 - When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

Proverbs 13:10 - Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.

Proverbs 8:13 - The fear of YHWH is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

Proverbs 8:14 - Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.

Proverbs 8:15 - By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.

Proverbs 8:16 - By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.

Proverbs 8:17 - I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

Proverbs 16:32 - He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

Matthew 18:3 - And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 18:4 - Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 18:5 - And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.

Matthew 18:6 - But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

Matthew 18:7 - Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!

And for an example concerning how to witness without fear...]

Acts 5:27 - And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,

Acts 5:28 - Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.

Acts 5:29 - Then Kepha and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey Elohim rather than men.

Acts 5:32 - And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Spirit, whom Elohim hath given to them that obey him.

Acts 5:33 - When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.

1Peter 3:15 - But set apart YHWH in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;

1Peter 3:17 - For it is better, if it is the will of YHWH, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.

Romans 1:16 - For I am not ashamed of the glad tidings of the Messiah: for it is the power of YHWH unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Romans 1:17 - For therein is the righteousness of YHWH revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Luke 17:7 - But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?

Luke 17:8 - And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?

Luke 17:9 - Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.

Luke 17:10 - So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

1John 2:4 - He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Ephesians 3:21 - to Him be glory in the assembly by the Master Yahushua to all generations, forever and ever.

May YHWH bless you all
