This Sabbath is also an annual Holy Day, the Feast of Trumpets!
The Scriptural Feast Days include trumpets:
Psalms 81:1 Sing aloud to Elohim our strength; Make a joyful shout to the Elohim of Jacob.
2 Raise a song and strike the timbrel, The pleasant harp with the lute.
3 Blow the trumpet at the time of the New Moon, At the full moon, on our solemn feast day.
4 For this is a statute for Israel, A law of the Elohim of Jacob.
5 This He established in Joseph as a testimony, When He went throughout the land of Egypt, Where I heard a language I did not understand.
.
The Feast of Trumpets includes trumpets for a very special reason.
Let's look at what trumpets are for:
Numbers 10:1 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:
2 "Make two silver trumpets for yourself; you shall make them of hammered work; you shall use them for calling the congregation and for directing the movement of the camps.
3 "When they blow both of them, all the congregation shall gather before you at the door of the tabernacle of meeting.
4 "But if they blow only one, then the leaders, the heads of the divisions of Israel, shall gather to you.
5 "When you sound the advance, the camps that lie on the east side shall then begin their journey.
6 "When you sound the advance the second time, then the camps that lie on the south side shall begin their journey; they shall sound the call for them to begin their journeys.
7 "And when the assembly is to be gathered together, you shall blow, but not sound the advance.
8 "The sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets; and these shall be to you as an ordinance forever throughout your generations.
So trumpets were a means of communication among the people.
But they were also a very important form of communication with Yahweh!
continuing:
Numbers 10:9 "When you go to war in your land against the enemy who oppresses you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets, and you will be remembered before Yahweh your Elohim, and you will be saved from your enemies.
10 "Also in the day of your gladness, in your appointed feasts, and at the beginning of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; and they shall be a memorial for you before your Elohim: I am Yahweh your Elohim."
.
Nehemiah the Governor believed it would work in his day:
Nehemiah 4:17 Those who built on the wall, and those who carried burdens, loaded themselves so that with one hand they worked at construction, and with the other held a weapon.
18 Every one of the builders had his sword girded at his side as he built. And the one who sounded the trumpet was beside me.
19 Then I said to the nobles, the rulers, and the rest of the people, "The work is great and extensive, and we are separated far from one another on the wall.
20 "Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, rally to us there. Our Elohim will fight for us."
Maybe Nehemiah had read the story in 2 Chronicles 13.
Let's see if it really does work:
2 Chronicles 13:1 In the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam, Abijah became king over Judah.
2 He reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Michaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.
3 Abijah set the battle in order with an army of valiant warriors, four hundred thousand choice men. Jeroboam also drew up in battle formation against him with eight hundred thousand choice men, mighty men of valor.
Oh-oh - outnumbered two to one!
4 Then Abijah stood on Mount Zemaraim, which is in the mountains of Ephraim, and said, "Hear me, Jeroboam and all Israel:
5 Should you not know that Yahweh Elohim of Israel gave the dominion over Israel to David forever, to him and his sons, by a covenant of salt?
6 Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up and rebelled against his lord.
7 Then worthless rogues gathered to him, and strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and inexperienced and could not withstand them.
8 And now you think to withstand the kingdom of Yahweh, which is in the hand of the sons of David; and you are a great multitude, and with you are the gold calves which Jeroboam made for you as elohims.
9 Have you not cast out the priests of Yahweh, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and made for yourselves priests, like the peoples of other lands, so that whoever comes to consecrate himself with a young bull and seven rams may be a priest of things that are not elohims?
10 But as for us, Yahweh is our Elohim, and WE HAVE NOT FORSAKEN HIM; and the priests who minister to Yahweh are the sons of Aaron, and the Levites attend to their duties.
11 And they burn to Yahweh every morning and every evening burnt sacrifices and sweet incense; they also set the showbread in order on the pure gold table, and the lampstand of gold with its lamps to burn every evening; for we keep the command of Yahweh our Elohim, but you have forsaken Him.
12 Now look, Elohim Himself is with us as our head, and His priests with sounding trumpets TO SOUND THE ALARM AGAINST YOU. O children of Israel, do not fight against Yahweh Elohim of your fathers, for you shall not prosper!"
Abiyah told it like it is. He really was a son of David!
13 But Jeroboam caused an ambush to go around behind them; so they were in front of Judah, and the ambush was behind them.
Oh-oh - outnumbered two to one AND surrounded too!
Looks like Judah is in big trouble.
14 And when Judah looked around, to their surprise the battle line was at both front and rear; and they cried out to Yahweh, and THE PRIESTS SOUNDED THE TRUMPETS.
15 Then the men of Judah gave a shout; and as the men of Judah shouted, it happened that Elohim struck Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.
16 And the children of Israel fled before Judah, and Elohim delivered them into their hand.
17 Then Abijah and his people struck them with a great slaughter; so five hundred thousand choice men of Israel fell slain.
18 Thus the children of Israel were subdued at that time; and the children of Judah prevailed, BECAUSE THEY RELIED ON YAHWEH Elohim of their fathers.
Yahweh saved his people at the sound of the trumpet!
.
That was great! Want to see it again?
Joshua 6:1 Now Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of Israel; none went out, and none came in.
2 And Yahweh said to Joshua: "Look! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor.
3 You shall march around the city, all you men of war; you shall go all around the city once. This you shall do six days.
4 And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark. But the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and THE PRIESTS SHALL BLOW THE TRUMPETS.
5 It shall come to pass, when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, that all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the wall of the city will fall down flat. And the people shall go up every man straight before him."
6 Then Joshua the son of Nun called the priests and said to them, "Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of Yahweh."
7 And he said to the people, "Proceed, and march around the city, and let him who is armed advance before the ark of Yahweh."
8 So it was, when Joshua had spoken to the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams' horns before Yahweh advanced and blew the trumpets, and the ark of the covenant of Yahweh followed them.
9 The armed men went before the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear guard came after the ark, while the priests continued blowing the trumpets.
10 Now Joshua had commanded the people, saying, "You shall not shout or make any noise with your voice, nor shall a word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I say to you, 'Shout!' Then you shall shout."
11 So he had the ark of Yahweh circle the city, going around it once. Then they came into the camp and lodged in the camp.
12 And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of Yahweh.
13 Then seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of Yahweh went on continually and blew with the trumpets. And the armed men went before them. But the rear guard came after the ark of Yahweh, while the priests continued blowing the trumpets.
14 And the second day they marched around the city once and returned to the camp. So they did six days.
15 But it came to pass on the seventh day that they rose early, about the dawning of the day, and marched around the city seven times in the same manner. On that day only they marched around the city seven times.
16 And the seventh time it happened, when the priests blew the trumpets, that Joshua said to the people: "Shout, for Yahweh has given you the city!
17 Now the city shall be doomed by Yahweh to destruction, it and all who are in it. Only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.
18 And you, by all means abstain from the accursed things, lest you become accursed when you take of the accursed things, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.
19 But all the silver and gold, and vessels of bronze and iron, are consecrated to Yahweh; they shall come into the treasury of Yahweh."
20 So the people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets. And it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat. Then the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.
Once again the trumpets brought help from Yahweh.
This is a Special Holy Day based on salvation with a trumpet.
Leviticus 23:24 "Speak to the children of Israel, saying: 'In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a sabbath-rest, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation.
25 'You shall do no customary work on it; and you shall offer an offering made by fire to Yahweh.' "
Numbers 29:1-6 shows us what that day was like and still should be today.
Numbers 29:1 'And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work. For you it is a day of blowing the trumpets.
2 'You shall offer a burnt offering as a sweet aroma to Yahweh: one young bull, one ram, and seven lambs in their first year, without blemish.
3 'Their grain offering shall be fine flour mixed with oil: three-tenths of an ephah for the bull, two-tenths for the ram,
4 'and one-tenth for each of the seven lambs;
5 'also one kid of the goats as a sin offering, to make atonement for you;
6 'besides the burnt offering with its grain offering for the New Moon, the regular burnt offering with its grain offering, and their drink offerings, according to their ordinance, as a sweet aroma, an offering made by fire to Yahweh.
.
Of course, the sacrifices today are our prayers (Hebrews 13:15)
Let's be sure to offer all the sacrifices commanded for today. It seems there should be about 21 prayers. Some major and some shorter ones.
.
Now, let's get into the prophecies of when this day is fulfilled:
Joel 2:1 Blow the trumpet in Zion, And sound an alarm in My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; For THE DAY OF YAHWEH is coming, For it is at hand:
2 A day of darkness and gloominess, A day of clouds and thick darkness, Like the morning clouds spread over the mountains. A people come, great and strong, The like of whom has never been; nor will there ever be any such after them, even for many successive generations.
3 A fire devours before them, and behind them a flame burns; The land is like the Garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; surely nothing shall escape them.
4 Their appearance is like the appearance of horses; and like swift steeds, so they run.
.
Joel 2:12 "Now, therefore," says Yahweh, "Turn to Me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning."
13 So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to Yahweh your Elohim, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm.
14 Who knows if He will turn and relent, And leave a blessing behind Him; A grain offering and a drink offering For Yahweh your Elohim?
15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, Consecrate a fast, Call a sacred assembly;
16 Gather the people, Sanctify the congregation, Assemble the elders, Gather the children and nursing babes; Let the bridegroom go out from his chamber, And the bride from her dressing room.
...
Joel 2:32 And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of Yahweh Shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As Yahweh has said, Among the remnant whom Yahweh calls.
I have probably quoted too much already, but it would be good to read Joel 2:1 to 3:2 at this point. There are some wonderful scriptures there, especially in light of this Holy Day. I'll leave that for you to do yourselves.
Yahshua tells us when these things will happen and how in Matthew 24:29-31
Matthew 24:29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 And He will send His angels with a great SOUND OF A TRUMPET, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."
1 Thessalonians 4:13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Yahshua died and rose again, even so Elohim will bring with Him those who sleep in Yahshua.
15 For this we say to you by the word of Yahweh, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of Yahweh will by no means precede those who are asleep.
16 For Yahweh Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of Elohim. And the dead in The Messiah will rise first.
17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet Yahweh in the air. And thus we shall always be with Yahweh.
18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
.
And how are the dead raised?
1 Corinthians 15:51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed;
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. -- 1 Corinthians 15:52
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. -- 1 Corinthians 15:53
54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory." -- 1 Corinthians 15:54
55 "O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?"
56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to Elohim, who gives us the victory through our master Yahshua The Messiah.
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of Yahweh, knowing that your labor is not in vain in Yahweh.
Trumpets have been a signal for Yahweh to send salvation to his people for 3500 years; but I think that is going to end!
Soon a time is coming when Yahweh will not save his people any more.
Why? Because they shall all be saved! Just before the end there will be a series of trumpets sounding.
Revelation 8:2 And I saw the seven angels who stand before Elohim, and to them were given seven trumpets.
Revelation 11:14 to19 tells about the last trumpet"
Revelation 11:14 The second woe is past. Behold, the third woe is coming quickly.
15 Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Elohim and of His Messiah, and He shall reign forever and ever!"
16 And the twenty-four elders who sat before Elohim on their thrones fell on their faces and worshiped Elohim,
17 saying: "We give You thanks, O Yahweh Elohim Almighty, The One who is and who was and who is to come, Because You have taken Your great power and reigned.
18 The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come, And the time of the dead, that they should be judged, And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints, And those who fear Your name, small and great, And should destroy those who destroy the earth."
19 Then the temple of Elohim was opened in heaven, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His temple. And there were lightnings, noises, thunderings, an earthquake, and great hail.
Brethren, This Feast of Trumpets should remind us that
Yahweh is ready to save his people when they call on Him in faith.
HalleluYAH ! ! !
