YermeYah's message:

Thank you
Shalom and Welcome to all this Shabbat
THe thing that I am going to speak about this evening is found in Matthew 5:13

Matthew 5:13 - Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Yahushua was saying to his followers that they are the salt of the earth...
but if it looses it's saltiness, it becomes worthless...
I would like to first go to the parable of the sower in Matthew 13...

Matthew 13:1 - The same day went Yahushua out of the house, and sat by the sea side.

Matthew 13:2 - And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

Matthew 13:3 - And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;

Matthew 13:4 - And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:

Matthew 13:4 - And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:

Matthew 13:5 - Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:

Matthew 13:6 - And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

Matthew 13:7 - And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:

Matthew 13:8 - But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

Matthew 13:9 - Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

why did Yahushua speak in para bles?
let us continue...

Matthew 13:10 - And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

Matthew 13:11 - He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

Matthew 13:12 - For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

Matthew 13:13 - Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

Matthew 13:14 - And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

Matthew 13:15 - For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Matthew 13:16 - But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

Matthew 13:17 - For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

Matthew 13:18 - Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.

Matthew 13:19 - When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

now let us turn to Timothy

2Timothy 2:24 - And the servant of YHWH must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

2Timothy 2:25 - In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if YHWH peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

2Timothy 2:26 - And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

NOw continuing on with the explaination of the parable...

Matthew 13:20 - But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;

Matthew 13:21 - Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

let us now turn to Mark...

Mark 8:38 - Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

returning to Matthew...
I mean Luke...

Luke 7:23 - And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

Now back to Matthew...

Matthew 13:22 - He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

for an example of this in His Word...

1Timothy 6:9 - But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

Matthew 13:23 - But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

Let us turn back to Genesis

Genesis 26:12 - Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and YHWH blessed him.

Genesis 26:13 - And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great:

Notice it is YHWH that makes the increase!

John 6:44 - No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

John 6:45 - It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of YHWH. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

HalleluYAH!

John 15:16 - Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

SO it can be asked, do we have anything to say about whether or not we are chosen?

Luke 14:15 - And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of YHWH.

Luke 14:16 - Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:

Luke 14:17 - And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.

Luke 14:18 - And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.

one consent means, in the same way

Luke 14:19 - And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.

Luke 14:20 - And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.

Luke 14:21 - So that servant came, and shewed his master these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.

Luke 14:22 - And the servant said, Master, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.

Luke 14:23 - And the master said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

Luke 14:24 - For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.

Now, as to the cost of being a disciple, let us continue...

Luke 14:25 - And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them,

Luke 14:26 - If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

Luke 14:27 - And whosoever doth not bear his stake, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

Yahushua just said what we must be willing to put aside in order to be his dosciple...
When we hear this, we needto be confident that we will bw able to complete it before we decide to attempt...
We must be willing to go all the way with Yahushua

John 12:24 - Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

John 12:25 - He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

John 12:26 - If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

Revelations 12:11 - "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

Matthew 10:39 - He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

Matthew 22:8 - Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.

Matthew 22:9 - Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.

Matthew 22:10 - So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.

Matthew 22:11 - And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:

Matthew 22:12 - And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.

Matthew 22:13 - Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 22:14 - For many are called, but few are chosen.

We must be prepared to pay the price...

Luke 14:28 - For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?

Luke 14:29 - Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,

Luke 14:30 - Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

Luke 14:31 - Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?

Luke 14:32 - Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.

For an explaination of makinf peace with an enemy that is stronger than you, let us turn to Deuteronomy...

Deuteronomy 20:10 - When thou comest nigh unto a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace unto it.

Deuteronomy 20:11 - And it shall be, if it make thee answer of peace, and open unto thee, then it shall be, that all the people that is found therein shall be tributaries unto thee, and they shall serve thee.

Luke 14:33 - So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

Luke 14:34 - Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned?

Luke 14:35 - It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

One might say upon hearing these things, who then can be saved?

Mark 10:26 - And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved?

Mark 10:27 - And Yahushua looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with YHWH: for with YHWH all things are possible.

Salt preserves, an example of where salt is used to purify can be found in 2 Kings where EliSha uses salt...

2Kings 2:20 - And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.

2Kings 2:21 - And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith YHWH, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.

Paul uses salt as a synbol of purity also...

Colossians 4:6 - Let your speech be alway with favor, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

Now the question can be asked, what exactly is this salt, so that we can we know, how to preserve our faith?
What is the ultamate preservative...salt preserves...
Would it not be salvation?

Isaiah 12:1 - And in that day thou shalt say, O YHWH, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me.

Isaiah 12:2 - Behold, El is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for YAH YHWH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

Isaiah 12:3 - Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.

Psalms 28:7 - YHWH is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

Psalms 28:8 - YHWH is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.

Nehemiah 8:10 - Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Sovereign: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of YHWH is your strength.

Is there anything that we can do to help assure that we will have sufficient to complete it?
I mean...that we will be in favor with YHWH and have his joy?

Matthew 6:1 - Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 6:2 - Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Matthew 6:3 - But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

Matthew 6:4 - That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

THis is talking about when we do charity
now, when we pray...

Matthew 6:5 - And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Matthew 6:6 - But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Matthew 6:7 - But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Matthew 6:8 - Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

Matthew 6:9 - After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Matthew 6:10 - Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Matthew 6:11 - Give us this day our daily bread.

Matthew 6:12 - And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

Matthew 6:13 - And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Matthew 6:14 - For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

Matthew 6:15 - But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

That is heavy
when you fast...

Matthew 6:18 - That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

I meant verse 17 first

Matthew 6:17 - But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;

Matthew 6:18 - That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

Next, it is about laying up treasure

Matthew 6:19 - Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

Matthew 6:20 - But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

Matthew 6:21 - For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

We need to be humble...not proud...

Luke 14:1 - And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him.

Luke 14:7 - And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them,

Luke 14:8 - When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;

Luke 14:9 - And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.

Luke 14:10 - But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.

Luke 14:11 - For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Proverbs 15:33 - The fear of YHWH is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.

Matthew 18:1 - At the same time came the disciples unto Yahushua , saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

Matthew 18:2 - And Yahushua called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,

Matthew 18:3 - And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 18:4 - Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

We must realize, the heart is deceptive above all things...

Jeremiah 17:9 - The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

We must pray...

Psalms 51:10 - Create in me a clean heart, O Elohim; and renew a right spirit within me.

Psalms 51:11 - Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

Psalms 51:12 - Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

Psalms 51:13 - Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

We must pray always...

Luke 21:36 - Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

The things that are coming to pass on the earth!
in closing...

Luke 13:23 - Then said one unto him, Rabbi, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,

Luke 13:24 - Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

again

Matthew 5:13 - Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

May YHWH bless you
