YermeYah - Shalom and greetings in the saving name of Yahushua the Messiah

YermeYah - The thing that I am going to talk about this evening is the question...

YermeYah - Are we still required to keep the law of YHWH?

YermeYah - Let's start with with a popular doctrine amongst those who say that we are no longer required to keep the law of YHWH...

YermeYah - This doctrine is that people are now 'allowed' to eat anything...

YermeYah - I will start in Paul...

YermeYah - 1Timothy 4:1 - Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

YermeYah - 1Timothy 4:2 - Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

YermeYah - 1Timothy 4:3 - Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which YHWH hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

YermeYah - 1Timothy 4:4 - For every creature of YHWH is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

YermeYah - Now, the teachers of lawlessness, stop here and say, "See, if you teach that you can't eat anything you want, you are deceiveing the people"...

YermeYah - But let's not stop here, let's continue with verse 5...

YermeYah - 1Timothy 4:5 - For it is set apart by the word of YHWH and prayer.

YermeYah - Question, what was Paul refering to as the Word of YHWH, the new testament?

YermeYah - No, the 'new testament' did not even exist at this time!!

YermeYah - 2Timothy 3:15 - And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Yahushua ha Mashiach.

YermeYah - Paul is speaking of what is now called "the old testament"!

YermeYah - So, he is saying that we are permitted to eat all food that has been proclaimed as clean by the Word of YHWH!!

YermeYah - I have already shared a study on this subject...

YermeYah - The dietary food laws of YHWH can be found in Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14..

YermeYah - They have not been done away with.

YermeYah - Another scripture that is popularly quoted by those who say that you can now eat any thing is something that was spoken by Yahushua...

YermeYah - Matthew 15:11 - Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

YermeYah - Was Yahushua here saying that it is ok to eat pork?

YermeYah - Let's see what he was saying...

YermeYah - Matthew 15:1 - Then came to Yahushua scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,

YermeYah - Matthew 15:2 - Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

YermeYah - It was a tradition that you must wash your hands before you eat.

YermeYah - It was not a law, and what Yahushua was saying was that you are not sinning if you eat without washing your hands first...

YermeYah - he was not saying that it is ok to eat pork or any other thing that is forbidden in the law of YHWH.

YermeYah - Another favorite of the anti law crowd, is in Acts 10 where Kepha (peter) saw a vision...

YermeYah - a large sheet was being let down containing all kinds of 4 footed animals as well as reptiles and birds...verses 11-12

YermeYah - Acts 10:13 - And there came a voice to him, Rise, Kepha; kill, and eat.

YermeYah - but Kepha responded...

YermeYah - Acts 10:14 - But Kepha said, Not so, Master; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

YermeYah - Acts 10:15 - And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What YHWH hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

YermeYah - For an explaination of what this vision meant, we must go to verse 28 of this chapter...

YermeYah - Acts 10:28 - And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but YHWH hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

YermeYah - And so, here again, the purpose of the vision was not to do away with YHWH's dietary food law.

YermeYah - Many people claim to be above the law.

YermeYah - "We are not under the law," they say, "so there is no need to keep it."

YermeYah - But what does the Word of YHWH have to say concerning this doctrine of "lawlessness"?

YermeYah - Matthew 7:22 - Many will say to me in that day, Rabbi, Rabbi, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

YermeYah - Matthew 7:23 - And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.(lawlessness)

YermeYah - Isaiah 24:5 - The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.

YermeYah - Notice the term, "Everlasting covenant"...everlasting means "never-ending!"

YermeYah - Do YHWH's laws still exist and are we expected to obey them?

YermeYah - Or are Yahweh's commandments obsolete, fulfilled and done away with by the death of His son?

YermeYah - Millions would answer "Yes, we are no longer under the law. It has been done away with and we are no longer expected to keep it."

YermeYah - But what does the Word of YHWH have to say about this?...

YermeYah - Psalms 111:7 - The works of his hands are truth and judgment; all his commandments are sure.

YermeYah - Psalms 111:8 - They stand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness.

YermeYah - Did you see that? for ever and ever!

YermeYah - Let's go to Paul again...

YermeYah - Romans 6:14 - For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

YermeYah - Romans 6:15 - What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? By no means.

YermeYah - We are not to sin, and we are able to do this because we are no longer under the 'curse of the law' but rather, we are under favor (grace...forgiveness)

YermeYah - The greatest command...

YermeYah - Deuteronomy 6:5 - And thou shalt love YHWH thy Elohim with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

YermeYah - This command was repeated by Yahushua in Mat 22: 36-38

YermeYah - But, what does this command mean, how do we do it?

YermeYah - We will again turn to the Word of YHWH for an answer...

YermeYah - Deuteronomy 11:13 - And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love YHWH your Elohim, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul

YermeYah - Deuteronomy 11:22 - For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love YHWH your Elohim, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him

YermeYah - Joshua 22:5 - But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of YHWH charged you, to love YHWH your Elohim, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.

YermeYah - Did you see it? the way we love YHWH our Elohim with all our heart and all our soul is by "keeping His commandments"!

YermeYah - Yahushua and the apostles taught the same thing...

YermeYah - John 14:15 - If ye love me, keep my commandments.

YermeYah - John 14:21 - He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

YermeYah - 1John 2:4 - He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

YermeYah - 1John 5:2 - By this we know that we love the children of YHWH, when we love YHWH and keep His commandments.

YermeYah - 1John 5:3 - For this is the love of YHWH, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.

YermeYah - Many people who think they have understanding, will go to Paul's writtings to try to show that we no longer need to keep the law.

YermeYah - But if Paul taught against the law, then that would make him a false prophet!

YermeYah - Paul did not teach against the law...

YermeYah - Romans 7:12 - Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

YermeYah - But, as the apostle Kepha said...

YermeYah - 2Peter 3:14 - Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless;

YermeYah - 2Peter 3:15 - and consider that the longsuffering of our Master is salvation--as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you,

YermeYah - 2Peter 3:16 - as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.

YermeYah - So, people who use Paul's writtings to teach against the law are "untaught and unstable"

YermeYah - How can someone say that once we have the Messiah, that we are no longer required to keep the law?

YermeYah - Matthew 5:17 - Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

YermeYah - Matthew 5:18 - For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

YermeYah - Matthew 5:19 - Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

YermeYah - Matthew 5:20 - For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

YermeYah - fulfill means to perform

YermeYah - Psalms 19:7 - The law of YHWH is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of YHWH is sure, making wise the simple.

YermeYah - Psalms 19:8 - The statutes of YHWH are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of YHWH is pure, enlightening the eyes.

YermeYah - Why would we no longer be required to keep something that is perfect?

YermeYah - 1Kepha 4:18 - Now "If the righteous one is scarcely saved, where will the wicked and the sinner appear?"

YermeYah - Matthew 7:13 - Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

YermeYah - Matthew 7:14 - Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

YermeYah - John 8:31 - Then said Yahushua to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

YermeYah - John 8:32 - And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

YermeYah - John 8:33 - They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?

YermeYah - John 8:34 - Yahushua answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

YermeYah - What is sin?

YermeYah - 1John 3:4 - Whoever commits sin trangresses also the law, for sin is the transgression of the law.

YermeYah - James 1:22 - But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

YermeYah - James 1:23 - For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror;

YermeYah - James 1:24 - for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

YermeYah - James 1:25 - But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

YermeYah - James 1:26 - If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion [is] useless.

YermeYah - James 1:27 - Pure and undefiled religion before YHWH the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

YermeYah - James 1:28 -

YermeYah - So, in conclusion....

YermeYah - Ecclesiastes 12:13 - Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear Elohim, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

YermeYah - Ecclesiastes 12:14 - For Elohim shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

YermeYah - May YHWH bless you all
