BrGreg - We ask this in the name of Your Son, Yahushua ha Mashiach!
BrGreg - HalleluYAH!
EliYah - HalleluYah!
EliYah - Tonite I would like to talk about an upcoming scriptural event that will begin in about a month from now
EliYah - It's called The Passover
EliYah - I felt lead to get back to basics on this day of observance
EliYah - And so I will take it from the beginning..
EliYah - So what is the Passover/
EliYah - The Passover and Feast of Unleavened bread are found in the scriptures....
EliYah - I love this feast because it is so symbolic of what Yahshua has done for us and it applies very much to Yahweh's plan of Salvation.
EliYah - The purpose of the first part of this study is to inform those who know absolutely nothing about the Passover or feast of unleavened bread.
EliYah - The children of Israel were dwelling in Egypt and were increasing in number and size.
EliYah - n fact, there were so many of them that the Pharoah of Egypt began to fear what might take place if they had gotten too large in number:
EliYah - Ezekiel 1:7 - And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass.
EliYah - Exodus 1:7 - And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.
EliYah - Exodus 1:8 - Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.
EliYah - Exodus 1:9 - And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:
EliYah - Exodus 1:10 - Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.
EliYah - So the Pharoah divised a plan:
EliYah - Exodus 1:11 - Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.
EliYah - Exodus 1:12 - But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.
EliYah - Exodus 1:13 - And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour:
EliYah - Exodus 1:14 - And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.
EliYah - Exodus 1:15 - And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah:
EliYah - Exodus 1:16 - And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.
EliYah - Exodus 1:17 - But the midwives feared Elohim, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.
EliYah - Exodus 1:18 - And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?
EliYah - Exodus 1:19 - And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them.
EliYah - Exodus 1:20 - Therefore Elohim dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.
EliYah - Exodus 1:21 - And it came to pass, because the midwives feared Elohim, that he made them houses.
EliYah - Exodus 1:22 - And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.
EliYah - And so the children of Israel were oppressed and in the bondage of slavery to the Egyptians.
EliYah - They were forced to throw all their newborn sons into the river.
EliYah - Now Yahweh very much despises the shedding of innocent blood!
EliYah - If you read the first part of the book of Exodus you will see that Yahweh allowed one of the first born sons to remain alive and grow up in the household of Pharoah. This son was Moses (Moshe).
EliYah - Yahweh called out Moshe to lead the children of Israel out of the land of bondage and slavery and promised to lead them into a beautiful land 'flowing with milk and honey'.
EliYah - Yahweh told Moshe (Moses) to go to the Pharoah and petition him to let the children of Israel go into the wilderness to worship Yahweh.
EliYah - But the Pharoah would not let them go. So Yahweh sent plagues upon the Egyptians who worshiped idols. Yahweh showed His superiority over dumb idols by sending 10 plagues.
EliYah - The first plague was all the water coming from the Nile river was turned into blood for seven days.
EliYah - But the Pharoah would not heed them, as Yahweh had said. The following plagues were Frogs, Lice, Flies, Disease on their animals, Boils on man and animals, hail, locusts and darkness.
EliYah - In each of the plagues, Yahweh spared the area in Egypt that the Israelites dwelt in.
EliYah - The last plague however, was an important one. Yahweh told Pharoah through Moshe:
EliYah - Exodus 11:4 - And Moses said, Thus saith YAHWEH, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt:
EliYah - Exodus 11:5 - And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.
EliYah - Exodus 11:6 - And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.
EliYah - Exodus 11:7 - But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that YAHWEH doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.
EliYah - And so Yahweh planned on making a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.
EliYah - The Israelites would be saved from death if they heeded Moshe's instructions.
EliYah - Now the following chapter is crucial to understanding the feast of Passover and unleavened bread:
EliYah - Exodus 12:1 - And YAHWEH spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,
EliYah - Exodus 12:2 - This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
EliYah - Yahweh had to teach the children of Israel His calendar.
EliYah - He taught them that this month (which began with the new moon) would be the month would begin Yahweh's calendar year.
EliYah - Exodus 12:3 - Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
EliYah - Exodus 12:4 - And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.
EliYah - Exodus 12:5 - Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
EliYah - So on the tenth day of Yahweh's first month, the households of Israel were to take for themselves an unblemished male lamb of the first year and set it aside and keep it seperated from the others.
EliYah - Now it is helpful if we understand that in those days, a person's prosperity was primarily based on their livestock.
EliYah - To take a male lamb of the first year out of their flock would be a hefty monetary sacrifice.
EliYah - Today, we think of sacrifices as something different. But it truly was a 'sacrifice' for the children of Israel to give up one of their male lambs.
EliYah - In fact, not all households had it.
EliYah - Now I once talked to a farmer who raised sheep. He said that he never had any problems slaughtering one of his cows or chickens.
EliYah - But when he had to slaughter one of his lambs...it was extremely difficult because when a lamb is in pain it literally sounds like a newborn baby crying.
EliYah - Exodus 12:6 - And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
EliYah - I know there is some controversy as to when this precisely is (literally the Hebrew reads "Between the evenings")..
EliYah - But I believe that during the spring time, it is at approximately the ninth hour of the day or 3:00 in the afternoon. Keep this in mind for later.
EliYah - Exodus 12:7 - And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
EliYah - Exodus 12:8 - And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
EliYah - Exodus 12:9 - Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.
EliYah - Exodus 12:10 - And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.
EliYah - Exodus 12:11 - And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is YAHWEH's passover.
EliYah - Exodus 12:12 - _Fr I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the elohim of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am YAHWEH.
EliYah - Exodus 12:13 - And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
EliYah - So the children of Israel were to kill the lamb, place the blood on the lintel and doorposts of their homes then roast and eat the passover lamb with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.
EliYah - They were commanded not to break any of the lambs bones.I believe they were to eat it quickly because they would begin departing from Egypt that night.
EliYah - Now when Yahweh passed over the children of Israel, he would spare them from the death that would be brought upon the firstborn of the Egyptians. The memorial observance of this event was to be celebrated from year to year forever:
EliYah - Exodus 12:14 - And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to YAHWEH throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
EliYah - Exodus 12:15 - Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.
EliYah - Exodus 12:16 - And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.
EliYah - Exodus 12:17 - And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever.
EliYah - And so the feast of Unleavened bread was instituted. It begins on the 15th day of Yahweh's first month (Abib) and the last day was to be on the 21st of Abib.
EliYah - The 15th and 21st were to be Sabbath days unto Yahweh. No work should be done on these days except to prepare the food that everyone must eat.
EliYah - Exodus 12:18 - In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even.
EliYah - Yahweh's days begin at evening. Therefore the feast of Unleavened bread actually began when it became evening on the 14th day of the month of Abib and ended when it was evening on the 21st day of the month of Abib.
EliYah - During this time, no leaven (yeast) was to be found in their homes.
EliYah - Remember this :)
EliYah - Exodus 12:19 - Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses: for whosoever eateth that which is leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the land.
EliYah - Exodus 12:20 - Ye shall eat nothing leavened; in all your habitations shall ye eat unleavened bread.
EliYah - So these commandments were not only for the children of Israel, but also for anyone who decided to join themselves unto Yahweh and be part of His congregation of Israel.
EliYah - Later in this chapter we read:
EliYah - Exodus 12:49 - One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.
EliYah - It is very clear that Yahweh does not have a double standard.
EliYah - So this is the feast of Passover and unleavened bread according to the word of Almighty Yahweh.
EliYah - What is so beautiful about this feast is that it casts a shadow. It is symbolic of our walk with Yahweh.
EliYah - The bondage, the leaven, the mercy of Yahweh with the lamb and its blood on the doorposts, the bitter herbs, the promised land all represent a powerful symbology of our own walk with Yahweh.
EliYah - And His plan
EliYah - In scriptures, it is well established that Yahshua is called "the Lamb". John the Baptist knew who Yahshua was:
EliYah - John 1:29 - The next day John seeth YAHSHUA coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of YAHWEH, which taketh away the sin of the world.
EliYah - John 1:35 - Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;
EliYah - John 1:36 - And looking upon YAHSHUA as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of YAHWEH!
EliYah - Revelation, a highly symbolic book of scripture, refers to Yahshua as the Lamb 27 times!
EliYah - Here is one..
EliYah - Revelations 5:11 - Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands,
EliYah - Revelations 5:12 - saying with a loud voice: "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing!"
EliYah - So it is established that Yahshua is called the "Lamb who was slain". Things are starting to get interesting now.
EliYah - Let's look into the day in which Yahshua the Messiah died on the tree:
EliYah - John 19:39 - And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to YAHSHUA by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.
EliYah - John 18:39 - But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?
EliYah - John 18:40 - Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.
EliYah - It is well established in scripture and to my knowledge unanimous among scholars that Yahshua died on the day of Passover.
EliYah - Does scripture then say what hour He died?
EliYah - Luke 23:44 - And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
EliYah - Luke 23:45 - And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
EliYah - Luke 23:46 - And when YAHSHUA had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the Spirit.
EliYah - Luke 23:47 - Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified Elohim, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.
EliYah - The ninth hour!
EliYah - Matthew 27:46 - And about the ninth hour YAHSHUA cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My Elohim, my Elohim, why hast thou forsaken me?
EliYah - Matthew 27:47 - Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for EliYah.
EliYah - Matthew 27:48 - And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.
EliYah - Matthew 27:49 - The rest said, Let be, let us see whether EliYah will come to save him.
EliYah - Matthew 27:50 - YAHSHUA , when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the Spirit.
EliYah - Again, we see that Yahshua actually died at the ninth hour on the day of Passover. This is the exact time that the Passover lambs were to be sacrificed!
EliYah - This is why Yahshua is called "The Lamb". He IS the Lamb.
EliYah - It was prophesied in the book of Isaiah that Yahshua would indeed be spotless and as a slain lamb:
EliYah - Isaiah 53:7 - He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
EliYah - Isaiah 53:8 - He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
EliYah - Isaiah 53:9 - And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
EliYah - Notice that this scripture says "For the transgressions of My people He was stricken". As we continue on in Isaiah 53, we will see that this is because Yahshua, the perfect Lamb without sin and without blemish, was a sin offering:
EliYah - Isaiah 53:10 - Yet it pleased YAHWEH to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of YAHWEH shall prosper in his hand.
EliYah - Kepha (Peter) was also well aware of this fact:
EliYah - 1Peter 1:17 - And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay [here] in fear;
EliYah - 1Peter 1:18 - knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers,
EliYah - 1Peter 1:19 - but with the precious blood of the Messiah, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
EliYah - Shaul (Paul) also was aware of this fact:
EliYah - 1Corinthians 5:7 - Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even the Messiah our passover is sacrificed for us:
EliYah - So there we have it. Yahshua the Messiah is called the Lamb because He redeems us from sin and death.
EliYah - We all know that sin is bondage. Sin leads to death but we are redeemed from death by the blood of Yahshua.
EliYah - Therefore what we have here with the feast of Passover and unleavened bread is a powerful symbol of our walk with Yahweh. We are spiritually Israel.
EliYah - Galatians 3:29 - And if you are the Messiah's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
EliYah - We too were called out of the land of bondage:
EliYah - Hebrews 2:14 - Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
EliYah - Hebrews 2:15 - and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
EliYah - Hebrews 2:16 - For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham.
EliYah - and again:
EliYah - Galatians 4:3 - Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world.
EliYah - Galatians 4:4 - But when the fullness of the time had come, YAHWEH sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
EliYah - Galatians 4: -
EliYah - Galatians 4:5 - to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
EliYah - Galatians 4:6 - And because you are sons, YAHWEH has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!"
EliYah - We left behind the leavening which represents sin and false doctrine:
EliYah - 1Corinthians 5:6 - Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
EliYah - 1Corinthians 5:7 - Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even the Messiah our passover is sacrificed for us:
EliYah - 1Corinthians 5:8 - Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
EliYah - And again:
EliYah - Luke 12:1 - In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
EliYah - But now we have been cleansed and washed of our sins by the blood of the Lamb:
EliYah - Revelations 7:13 - Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, "Who are these arrayed in white robes, and where did they come from?"
EliYah - Revelations 7:14 - And I said to him, "Sir, you know." So he said to me, "These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
EliYah - Like Israel, we are saved from death:
EliYah - Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of YAHWEH is eternal life through YAHSHUA the Messiah our Saviour.
EliYah - And now we are in the wilderness and in the time of temptation and of trial.
EliYah - But we are headed to the promised land, Yahweh's Kingdom!!!
EliYah - It is also interesting that it was Joshua (In Hebrew pronounced Yahshua) who finally lead the children of Israel to the promised land. Beautiful! Stunning! This all could not have happened by accident. This is certainly the hand of Yahweh in all of this.
EliYah - Now one of the clearest evidences in scripture that we should be observing the feasts today is in the commanded observance of the memorial supper that Yahshua instituted.
EliYah - Many churches today practice this every sunday. Most of them do not have the realization of what they are even doing.
EliYah - But when one observes the Passover as instituted by Yahshua the Messiah, we know exactly what the significance of it all truly is.
EliYah - Let's examine what Yahshua instituted:
EliYah - Luke 22:15 - And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
EliYah - Luke 22:16 - For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of YAHWEH.
EliYah - Luke 22:17 - And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:
EliYah - Luke 22:18 - For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of YAHWEH shall come.
EliYah - Luke 22:19 - And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
EliYah - This is unleavened bread as we shall soon see. This was Yahshua's commandment. We are to do this in remembrance of Him.
EliYah - Remember that Yahshua died at the time of Passover. Therefore, when we break of the bread let us remember that it was us who caused Yahshua's broken body.
EliYah - It was for our sins that He had to come into the world and die. And it was at this time of Yahweh's year that He died for us.
EliYah - Luke 22:20 - Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.
EliYah - The cup represents the New Covenant. When Yahshua returns, the new covenant will be fully instituted and we will reign with Him forever.
EliYah - The blood of Yahshua is what cleanses us from all sin. When we partake of these things, we are a part of Him:
EliYah - John 6:47 - Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
EliYah - John 6:48 - I am that bread of life.
EliYah - John 6:49 - Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
EliYah - John 6:50 - This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
EliYah - We should know that bread is symbolic of the word of Yahweh:
EliYah - Isaiah 55:1 - Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
EliYah - Isaiah 55:2 - Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
EliYah - Isaiah 55:3 - Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
EliYah - and again..
EliYah - Ezekiel 3:1 - Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel.
EliYah - Ezekiel 3:2 - So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll.
EliYah - Ezekiel 3:3 - And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.
EliYah - roll = scroll
EliYah - Revelations 10:8 - Then the voice which I heard from heaven spoke to me again and said, "Go, take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel who stands on the sea and on the earth."
EliYah - Revelations 10:9 - So I went to the angel and said to him, "Give me the little book." And he said to me, "Take and eat it; and it will make your stomach bitter, but it will be as sweet as honey in your mouth."
EliYah - Revelations 10:10 - Then I took the little book out of the angel's hand and ate it, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth. But when I had eaten it, my stomach became bitter.
EliYah - Revelations 10:11 - And he said to me, "You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings."
EliYah - continuing in John..
EliYah - John 9:51 -
EliYah - John 6:51 - I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
EliYah - John 6:52 - The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
EliYah - The Jews didn't understand what He meant
EliYah - John 6:5 - When YAHSHUA then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?
EliYah - John 6:53 - Then YAHSHUA said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
EliYah - John 6:54 - Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
EliYah - John 6:55 - For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
EliYah - John 6:56 - He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
EliYah - John 6:57 - As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
EliYah - John 6:58 - This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
EliYah - John 6:59 - These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.
EliYah - But even many of His disciples were offended at this.
EliYah - John 6:60 - Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?
EliYah - John 6:61 - When YAHSHUA knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?
EliYah - John 6:62 - What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
EliYah - John 6:63 - It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
EliYah - His word! :)
EliYah - So Yahshua explains to them the meaning of this parable. But many still do not understand for later in verse 66 even some of his other followers walked away from Him. Blessed is He who is not offended because of Yahshua!
EliYah - Knowing that bread represents the word and the word is Yahshua the Messiah, we should know that His word is what manifests our sins.
EliYah - His word itself is not sin, but His word reveals to us what sin is:
EliYah - Romans 7:7 - What shall we say then? Is the law sin? By no means. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
EliYah - Knowing that the law reveals our sins, we need redemption! This is why we partake of Yahshua's blood because now that His word convicted us, it pointed us to the need of Yahshua's blood to cover the sins that His word revealed to us!
EliYah - Galatians 3:24 - Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to the Messiah, that we might be justified by faith.
EliYah - HalleluYah, our faith in Yahshua the Messiah brings us justification!
EliYah - So as we can see, the Passover is a very important time of year. We should not replace this beautiful feast which represents our eternal salvation with a holiday with idolatrous origins such as easter!
EliYah - See how far doctrine has strayed from scripture!! Why must some reject the commandments of Yahweh in favor of the traditions of men? We have much the same situation today that we see in Yahshua's day:
EliYah - Matthew 7:5 - Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
EliYah - Matthew 7:6 - Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
EliYah - try again :)
EliYah - Mark 7:5 - Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?
EliYah - Mark 7:6 - He answered and said unto them, Well hath Isaiah prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
EliYah - Mark 7:7 - Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctines the commandments of men.
EliYah - We too must beware of ignoring the words and doctrine in the scriptures in favor of holding fast to traditions not commanded by Yahweh.
EliYah - Especially when those traditions have their roots in paganism! The very word "Easter" comes from the name of a heathen idol "Astarte".
EliYah - How abominable to throw out the beautiful feast of Passover that Yahweh ordained and instead take a day named after an idol and say its for Yahweh!!
EliYah - This is expressly forbidden in His word
EliYah - Deuteronomy 12:29 - When YAHWEH thy Elohim shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their land;
EliYah - Deuteronomy 12:30 - Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their elohim, saying, How did these nations serve their elohim? even so will I do likewise.
EliYah - Deuteronomy 12:31 - Thou shalt not do so unto YAHWEH thy Elohim: for every abomination to YAHWEH, which he hateth, have they done unto their elohim; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their elohim.
EliYah - Thou shalt not do so unto YAHWEH thy Elohim!
EliYah - Deuteronomy 12:32 - What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
EliYah - Yahweh commanded that we should not learn the way of the Heathen (Jer. 10).
EliYah - But we should not be surprised if many in this day and age prefer the days that honor idols and refuse to go back to the way it was from the beginning.
EliYah - Even in Jeremiah's day, we see a similar situation:
EliYah - Jeremiah 6:16 - Thus saith YAHWEH, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
EliYah - As well as in Isaiah's day
EliYah - Isaiah 42:22 - But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore.
EliYah - Let us praise Yahweh and look forward to getting the leaven/sin out of our own lives this coming passover and feast of Unleavened bread.
EliYah - This is the TRUE new year in Yahweh's eyes.
EliYah - Let's make a renewed commitment to serving Him with all our heart, soul and strength!
EliYah - For this life is all temporary.
EliYah - Let's seek the things which are above and walk in them.
EliYah - Let's live our lives full of light...
EliYah - and truth...
EliYah - and love..
EliYah - full of the fruits of Yahweh's Spirit
EliYah - Then in that final day may we all be there to sup with Yahshua where He will drink again of the vine....
EliYah - May we all abide in Him until He come again!
EliYah - And with that I will close, May Yahweh bless you all!
BrBob - How GREAT is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of Yahweh! And that is what we are!-- The reason the world does not know us is that IT DOES NOT know him. -- 2. Dear friends, now we are children of Yahweh, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM, for we shall see him as he is. 1 Jn 3:1
