Berean's message:

Baruch HaBa B'Shem YAHWEH \o/

Matthew 23:39 - For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of YHWH.

Scorners, Scoffers and...Hypocrites! What do we do with them/us?

Proverbs 18:8 - The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

1Corinthians 13:2 - And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing.

1Corinthians 13:1 - Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

1Corinthians 13:3 - And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not love, it profiteth me nothing.

1Corinthians 13:8 - Love never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

1Corinthians 13:13 - And now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Shalom Ya'll

This is a subject in which I have been blessed to have learned a few lessons in, and still have a ways to go in the struggle of denying self, and returning a righteous meek and humble answer to those we feel are ever scornful, unjust, revilers, accusers or hypocrites.

Too many times I have seen brethren (myself included) return reviling for reviling to the edification of noone. Anger breeds more anger, and those who are spiritual must have it said of them, (so to speak).....

"The Buck Stops Here"

.

Proverbs 17:9 - He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.

Jeremiah 51:1 - Thus saith YHWH; Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against them that dwell in the midst of them that rise up against me, a destroying wind;

Jeremiah 51:2 - And will send unto Babylon fanners, that shall fan her, and shall empty her land: for in the day of trouble they shall be against her round about.

wrong vs

Jeremiah 5:1 - Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it.

Jeremiah 5:2 - And though they say, YHWH liveth; surely they swear falsely.

Jeremiah 5:3 - O YHWH, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.

Jeremiah 5:4 - Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of YHWH, nor the judgment of their Elohim.

..

2Timothy 3:16 - All scripture is given by inspiration of YHWH, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

2Timothy 3:17 - That the man of YHWH may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Proverbs 3:11 - My son, despise not the chastening of YHWH; neither be weary of his correction:

Proverbs 3:12 - For whom YHWH loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

Proverbs 15:10 - Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.

So we see, that we should not despise correction/rebuke/ reproof, if it is in line with the Word of Yahweh.

so

What do we do if the person who comes to you with the 'rod of correction' does not have any scripture in mind, just the fact that they are offended

?

Reproof or rebuke that is not in line with Scripture, becomes reviling, railing, or a false accusation.

What if their correction is not 'correct'?

What if they have no correction, but just want to point out something they feel is wrong?

What if the 'reproof' has no proof?

What if it is more a reviling and an obvious effort to humble you and thus establish their own 'righteousness'?

What if the person is approaching you with real correction, but has in their pride:

A) ignored the command to examine ones self and removing the blemish before offering correction

or B) Forgot to mention that they are struggling with the same thing and their error in this area might even be more serious.

Matthew 10:26 - Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

To be corrected by a hypocrite can be an instant stumbling block for many, focusing on the other persons real or even imagined hypocrisy rather than realising that the hypocrite, (being guilty themselves), might be able to see that little speck in your eye a bit better than your own examination in the mirror.

....

We just might tend to stumble, and say... they have an obvious problem, and are trying to lessen it by 'spreading the guilt' or 'pointing the finger'.

Proverbs 17:15 - He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to YHWH.

I am sure we have all felt like the victim of one of these circumstances at one time or other in our lives and being upset by someone's hypocrisy or unjustness.

Making our response in anger or outright rejection...

But there is an appropriate excellent response, as given by our Teacher....

our Example......

1Thessalonians 5:14 - Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

1Thessalonians 5:15 - See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

See that none render evil for evil unto any man

among yourselves, and to all men

1Peter 2:21 - For to this you were called, because the Messiah also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:

1Peter 2:22 - "Who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth";

1Peter 2:23 - who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;

when He was reviled, did not revile in return

Proverbs 13:10 - Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.

This is the example we should be striving to follow.

1Corinthians 4:10 - We are fools for the Messiah's sake, but ye are wise in the Messiah; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.

1Corinthians 4:11 - Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace;

1Corinthians 4:12 - And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:

1Corinthians 4:13 - Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.

being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it: Being defamed, we intreat

Romans 12:9 - Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

Romans 12:10 - Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

Romans 12:11 - Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving YHWH;

Romans 12:12 - Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

Romans 12:13 - Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

Romans 12:14 - Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.

Romans 12:15 - Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

Romans 12:16 - Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

Romans 12:17 - Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

Romans 12:18 - If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

Romans 12:19 - Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith YHWH.

Romans 12:20 - Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

Matthew 5:44 - But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Matthew 5:45 - That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Matthew 5:46 - For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven!!!!

Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good..........

.........

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to possess the iniquities of my youth.

(job 13:26)

Proverbs 22:24 - Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:

Proverbs 22:25 - Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.

We can probably think of many times we have been approached by an angry person, and either responded in kind, or at least we are tempted to.

Proverbs 19:11 - The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

Proverbs 12:26 - The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.

Proverbs 27:6 - Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

Proverbs 29:22 - An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.

Proverbs 29:23 - A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

a furious man aboundeth in transgression.

Anger leads to hasty words.

Proverbs 29:20 - Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

A man hasty in his words can also end up being unjust.

Proverbs 29:27 - An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.

Proverbs 10:11 - The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

Proverbs 18:3 - When the wicked cometh, then cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach.

Proverbs 26:23 - Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross.

Proverbs 26:24 - He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him;

Proverbs 26:25 - When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart.

Proverbs 26:26 - Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shewed before the whole congregation.

Proverbs 26:27 - Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.

Proverbs 26:28 - A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.

Proverbs 18:5 - It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment.

You shall know them by their fruits, do they hold alcohol, cigarettes or other mind altering substances as more important than brethren or family or monetary obligations (bills)?

Are they abusive and inconsiderate? Unthankful, selfish? Jealous, Adulterers? Do they beat their wives, do they beat their children? Do they rule their household with a fist or with the firmness of love? ( I am not equating the rod of correction to beating/abuse )

1Corinthians 5:9 - I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:

1Corinthians 5:10 - Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.

1Corinthians 5:11 - But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

1Corinthians 5:12 - For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?

1Corinthians 5:13 - But them that are without YHWH judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

We have seen that having friendship with an angry person can lead to adopting his ways.(Prov 22:24-25) Therefore we are commanded not to keep company with those who practise the above, and call themselves brother.

Yahweh willing, they will repent and be brought out of this, but in the meantime, beyond that, what else should our response be?

We know that Yahwehs' will is that the wicked repent.

Ezekiel 13:11 - Say unto them which daub it with untempered morter, that it shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and ye, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall rend it.

hhm

Ezekiel 33:11 - Say unto them, As I live, saith the Master YHWH, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

We should be concerned about our brother's spiritual welfare, but should we only be focused on someone elses shortcomings?

Should we be examining others with a suspicious evil eye?

Or perhaps we should remember that we are commanded to examine ourselves before we focus our energies on putting our brethren or others under the microscope.

Lest we become a stumbling block to them with our own hypocrisy.

James 2:13 - For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

Removing and keeping sin from our own lives teaches us to have mercy towards others.

There is an old worldly saying about throwing rocks at others, when living in a glass house...

I believe we should not build our houses on/out of sand, but on/with the Rock!!

Proverbs 10:12 - Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

I AM saying that we are to express our love in meek, humble reproof when seeing a brother in sin, we should offer scriptural correction. Considering ourselves lest we be tested.

Galatians 6:1 - Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.

I AM also saying; We are shown NOT to approach a brother with an attitude of having something to teach them, and boy they better take their medicine or they are foolish scorners/scoffers who reject reproof!

1Peter 3:8 - Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous;

1Peter 3:9 - not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.

1Peter 3:10 - For "He who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit.

1Peter 3:11 - Let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it.

1Peter 3:12 - For the eyes of YHWH are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers; but the face of YHWH is against those who do evil."

1Peter 3:13 - And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good?

1Peter 3:14 - But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you are blessed. "And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled."

1Peter 3:15 - But set apart YHWH in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;

1Peter 3:16 - having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in the Messiah may be ashamed.

1Peter 3:17 - For it is better, if it is the will of YHWH, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.

1Peter 3:18 - For the Messiah also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to YHWH, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,

Romans 12:18 - If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

Romans 12:19 - Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith YHWH.

Proverbs 28:13 - He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

It is my prayer that when we read this we apply the afore mentioned Scriptures, considering that we can at times be the victim, and at times just might be the perpetrator.

.................

Let us not be the ones who bring false charges, or the ones who return reviling for reviling, but rather, let us all seek the will of Yahweh in ALL matters.

Hebrews 12:14 - Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see YAHWEH:

Hebrews 12:15 - looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the favor of YAHWEH; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled;

May YAHWEH guide us unto righteousness! Praise YAHWEH!!
