Is Pork Forbidden to Muslims Only? The Jews and Christians are also forbidden from eating pork.
Here is a quote from the Old Testament to that effect: "And the swine, because it divideth the hoof,
yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead
carcase." Deuteronomy 14:8 Many Christians believe that this verse was directed only at the Jews.
But Jesus himself says during the Sermon on the Mount; "Think not that I am come to destroy the
Law, or the Prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill." Some Christians say that, after a
vision by St. Peter, God cleansed all animals and made them fit and lawful for human consumption. If
ALL animals are cleansed by Peter's vision, this includes dogs, cats, vultures, and rats: but you just
don't see people getting excited about a cat-meat sandwich like they do over barbecued pork or
bacon. Others say that it was Paul who rescinded the law forbidding pork to humans, in order to
appease the Romans, who enjoyed the taste of pig-meat. Many excuses have been given, but none
are very sound. Many Far Eastern traditions also discourage the eating of pork. The 3,000 year old
Confucian Book of Rites says, "A gentleman does not eat the flesh of pigs and dogs." Although
many Chinese are avid eaters of pork today, physicians of ancient China recognized pork-eating as
the root of many human ailments. Buddhists, Jains and Hindus usually avoid eating any kind of meat.

Bad effects of pork consumption Pig's bodies contain many toxins, worms and latent diseases.
Although some of these infestations are harbored in other animals, modern veterinarians say that pigs
are far more predisposed to these illnesses than other animals. This could be because pigs like to
scavenge and will eat any kind of food, including dead insects, worms, rotting carcasses, excreta
(including their own), garbage, and other pigs. Influenza (flu) is one of the most famous illnesses
which pigs share with humans. This illness is harbored in the lungs of pigs during the summer months
and tends to affect pigs and humans in the cooler months. Sausage contains bits of pigs' lungs, so
those who eat pork sausage tend to suffer more during epidemics of influenza. Pig meat contains
excessive quantities of histamine and imidazole compounds, which can lead to itching and
inflammation; growth hormone, which promotes inflammation and growth; sulphur-containing
mesenchymal mucus, which leads to swelling and deposits of mucus in tendons and cartilage,
resulting in arthritis, rheumatism, etc. Sulphur helps cause firm human tendons and ligaments to be
replaced by the pig's soft mesenchymal tissues, and degeneration of human cartilage. Eating pork
can also lead to gallstones and obesity, probably due to its high cholesterol and saturated fat content.
The pig is the main carrier of the taenia solium worm, which is found it its flesh. These tapeworms
are found in human intestines with greater frequency in nations where pigs are eaten. This type of
tapeworm can pass through the intestines and affect many other organs, and is incurable once it
reaches beyond a certain stage. One in six people in the US and Canada has trichinosis from eating
trichina worms which are found in pork. Many people have no symptoms to warn them of this, and
when they do, they resemble symptoms of many other illnesses. These worms are not noticed during
meat inspections, nor are they killed by salting or smoking. Few people cook the meat long enough
to kill the trichinae. The rat (another scavenger) also harbors this disease. There are dozens of other
worms, germs, diseases and bacteria which are commonly found in pigs, many of which are specific
to the pig, or found in greater frequency in pigs. Pigs are biologically similar to humans, and their
meat is said to taste similar to human flesh. Pigs have been used for dissection in biology labs due to
the similarity between their organs and human organs. People with insulin-dependent diabetes usually
inject themselves with pig insulin. If you pour Coke (yes, the soda) on a slab of pork, and wait a little
while, you will see worms crawl out of it.

Here is a recent article in The Irish Times found at ireland.com that tells some of the story
related to eating swine's flesh. It has always been thought that if you cook pork sufficiently
you will kill the bacteria and worms that crawl around in that flesh, but common-sense
dictates to me the complete and unreserved avoidance of such a disease infested poison,
such as science now proves pork and pork-products to be! And then when you find that the
Scriptures also support this position, well, I, for one, need no further assurance to treat it like
it was a deadly pestilence to be avoided at all costs! I find no law, or even
encouragement in the Bible to eat swine's flesh, or other "unclean" foods!! See Psalm

Cooked ham scare after salmonella outbreak

Cooked ham should
not be eaten unless its source can be verified, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland has
warned following an outbreak of salmonella poisoning in the north-east. The outbreak has
hospitalised 10 people out of 25 confirmed cases so far. A processing plant in Navan, Co
Meath, Augherskea Meats, is being investigated by the North Eastern Health Board as the
possible source of infection. Most of its ham is distributed through supermarkets and
delicatessens where it is sold as loose slices or pre-packed under the brand name
Augherskea. It does not carry any other brand name. The company, which distributes its
products throughout the Republic but mainly in the northeast, has closed its plant at Carriage
Road, Navan, and with drawn its products from sale. As cases are spread over a wide area
of Meath and Louth, and more cases are suspected in other regions, the outbreak is of
particular concern, according to FSAI director of communications Ms Eilis O'Brien. Very
young and older people are most susceptible to infection, which can develop over 24 hours
with a range of symptoms including vomiting, headache, abdominal pain and diarrhoea. The
type responsible for the outbreak is a strain which caused two very large outbreaks in the
Republic during the summer of 1998. It can be especially problematic if it is found to be
resistant to a series of antibiotics, as is often the case. It had yet to be verified if it is resistant,
she said. She added: "Consumers with loose sliced ham in their fridges should contact their
retailer and should only eat the ham if it is confirmed that it is not from Augherskea. Retailers
with supplies should remove them from counters and contact their supplier directly."
Augherskea Meats director Mr Fergus Dunne said his company regretted very much the
product withdrawal was considered necessary but stressed they had fully co-operated with
the health board after it was notified of a possible problem on Thursday afternoon. "We wish
to assure the public that a full investigation is under way to determine the source of
contamination. At this stage, it is not possible to determine if, in fact, the contamination
occurred at Augherskea's premises." Tracing the ham is relatively easy in terms of identifying
retailers selling the product, but there is an obvious difficulty for consumers who may have
bought sliced ham and may not know its source, the FSAI spokeswoman confirmed.
Equally, it was important that retailers who have sold Augherskea product to be especially
thorough in cleaning their cooked meat slicers, Ms O'Brien said. Augherskea Meats
produces about 350 cooked hams a week. Some 10 per cent of its product is sold as
pre-packed slices of ham with the brand name clearly identifiable on the packaging. It does
not have its own pig farms, Mr Dunne said. With outbreaks of this type, the initial source is
usually traced back to a pig herd. Two helplines have been set up to assist the public. The
FSAI helpline is 1800 33 66 77, while the North Eastern Health Board helpline is 1800 44
54 40 - it will operate from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, including this weekend.

In the interest of perhaps shedding some light on
the vision that was presented to Peter, when he
was sent to bring the first Gentile convert in the
person of Cornelius into the high-calling for a
Spiritual inheritance, shown in Acts 10:1-48;11:1-18;
I believe this was done to show that the Gentiles,
who didn't follow the law given about clean and
unclean foods in the scriptures were now
acceptable to God, regardless of what they
were eating! Once these "called out" of the
world Gentiles, got into studying the scriptures,
they could learn more about these things they
knew nothing about, such as that written in Lev
11:1-47, for Paul leaves the eating of flesh as an
option to be chosen by the person involved in
Romans 14:21,22. You have to consider that the
eating of "unclean" foods was a Law given to the
Jews, such as Peter was, who followed it all his
life! But the science of man today has ample
evidence that swine's flesh was condemned as
being an "unclean" food for Good reason! So
God never truly cleansed the abominations found
in pork, He simply allowed it to be eaten by those
who knew nothing about His Law, until they could
make a decision on it for themselves! This is the
way I see it, and believe it to be right! Some act
as if God made it a Law to eat pork and other
"unclean" foods, and if you refuse to eat these
things you are not a true follower. WHAT
HOGWASH!!

Yes! Indeed! From eating pork and pork products! But who warns you of this? I know not any in the
common modes of communication in this world! Consequently, because of mankind's susceptibility
to such malignancies, the warning has been given in Leviticus 11:7,8 that the flesh of swine is "unclean,"
and "of their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch! They are unclean unto you!"

Now what usually happens when you try to publish the Truth of this matter? "The spiritual forces of
wickedness in the heavens," spoken of in Eph 6:12 raise up a multitude of false-prophets with their
followers, who are "the disobedient ones," spoken of in Eph 2:2, who start an extremly feverish outcry
that Christ's earthly sacrifice cleansed all these "unclean" foods mentioned in Lev 11:1-47 for everybody
on the entire earth since the time of that murderous treachery engineered by the original "deceiver and
the anti-Christ," who "loves to oppress" with deceit, 2John7; Hos 12:7, the Jews! The Truth of the matter
is that only the ones predestined for a Spiritual Inheritance with Our Lord and Saviour in the heavens
were sanctified to be considered dead to this Law! See Romans 7:4. These are the "144,000" and "The
Great Crowd" spoken of in Rev 7:1-17, none else!!

Now they all cry out that they indeed are part of these chosen ones found in the words of Rev 7:1-17, and enter into a feverish state of dogmatic belligerence, their "conscience being seared," 1Tim 4:2, by the
demons to emphasize that this is so. This will include every so-called "Christian" religion of heresy under
the sun; Catholic, Protestant, "Cultist," etc., etc., ad nauseam, taking every scripture that proves this to be
false and trampling them under their wine-soaked feet! They indeed not only get feverishly belligerent,
but take on an air of viciousness with these demons mentioned above that support them!

And all throughout the 2000 some years of all this mindless hypocrisy, deceit and oppression, everybody
feasts on this "unclean," nay, indeed "filthy" flesh of the swine!! See Rom 3:9-18

CRUELTY OF PIG FARMING ON CONTINENT EXPOSED BY NEW UNDERCOVER VIDEO INVESTIGATION

Compassion in World Farming (CIWF) today released a film exposing the horrendous conditions in which pigs are kept on factory farms throughout continental Europe. The new film, shot by CIWF's undercover investigators in France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Holland and Ireland, highlights the immense cruelty of the sow stall system, which is widely used in much of the continent but has been banned in Britain since 1999 on cruelty grounds.

CIWF has chosen this moment to launch its video as the European Commission will shortly be publishing a proposed new pig welfare law.

CIWF's new film shows how many EU sows are kept caged in tiny metal-barred stalls which are so narrow that they cannot even turn round. They are confined like this throughout their 16-week pregnancy. And for pregnancy after pregnancy. The stalls are often filthy and unhygienic. Usually the sows are given no straw or other bedding, being forced instead to stand or lie on bare concrete and slatted floors.

"Our new video exposé demonstrates the pressing need to rescue the 6 million EU sows kept in stalls from their plight", says Peter Stevenson, CIWF's Political & Legal Director. "CIWF has today written to European Commissioner, David Byrne, enclosing a copy of the film, urging him to ban sow stalls throughout the European Union. We also urge Britain's pig farmers to join us in campaigning for Britain's sow stall ban to be adopted throughout the EU".

NOTES: Sow stalls are also illegal in Sweden. Finland, the Netherlands and Denmark are banning sow stalls; their bans come into force in 2006, 2008 and 2014 respectively. In Australia, unfortunately, the sow stall is the method of choice for the 85% of pigs that are intensively farmed.

I worked in a large confinement swine facility back in the 70's. This was before I was observing the clean food laws, but some facts I discovered back then compelled me to give up eating pork.

Pigs absorb whatever toxins and feed additives into their flesh much more effeciently than other farm raised food animals. When you eat pork, you get the effects transferred to your body. It is a common practice to put growth stimulants in the feed to get the animals to market weight in shorter amount of time. This cuts feed costs and allows for a quicker turnover of livestock for higher profits.

Since swine transfer these stimulants more readily than any other animal, when a person eats pork, they injest the same growth stimulants into their bodies to make them more feed effecient as it does for the animals. This not only makes people gain weight quicker, but can also affect growth rates in children. It makes for many weight problems in consumers of stimulated pork.

On another topic, though somewhat related to this thread, I currently work in a confinement turkey operation. We run four flocks of 16,000 birds a year through the barns. This provides quite a bit of food for many people. In centuries past when food was raised by more people, the burden of providing was more evenly spread out.

Now in this age of a consumer society, the respopnsibilty of food production falls on fewer and fewer people all the time. As a result, farms become larger and larger. Hence the procession toward corporate farming. It would be much better if everyone were involved in the husbandry of their own livestock, but that just ain't the case. If we are to avoid mass starvation in an ever growing population, this trend will continue, especially as "third world" countries become consumer societies much as the USA has.

I love the farm life, I have eight children, and the lessons of life and death and the work ethic gained on the farm provide many advantages for those who have the blessing of living such a life. It is a challenge to maintain a balanced perspective of food production in this world corrupted by the greed and worship of the idol of convenience that so many enjoy. I have tried to maintain that balance, we have draft horses on this farm, and slowly we are weaning ourselves from the convenience of jumping on the tractor to using the horses. It takes more time to hang the harnesses and put the horses away properly, but they are a much better way to do things, at least as far as the effects on us and our environment go. We live in an area where we are surrounded by Mennonites and Amish. Due to the burden of responsibilty for producing food for a growing world, they too have gone into large scale confinement production, but maintain their fields with muscle power rather than petroleum power as much as possible.

Some say that confinement is cruel to the animals, it dependes on how well the farmer cares for his animals. Often confinement facilities offer a cleaner environment than animals raised in old style dirt lots or on the range. And again, the volumes of production necessary to provide for this consumer society is only fullfilled by such large scale operations.

I know that soon the world we live in now will be renewed and ran by a new system of provision for our needs, this age of Satan will pass, and the Kingdom we long for will arrive. But 'til then, somebody has to feed the bulldog.
