I'm having nothing but trouble finding a job, everywhere requires saturdays, even the ones listed as Monday through Friday! No real request, just ... i don't know what. Is this a test? Just life?

as you read all the scriptures the Messiah refered to the sabbath about (in a greek interlinear bible) i think you will conclude that rabbi's , pastors police, fireman, drs., nurses, mllitary, mail carriers, all work on the sabbath. you can be justified by moral or dutiful obligations of many types according to the Messiahs teachings one simply is to earn enough to eat. what guilt do slaves have working on the sabbath. ask the Messiah he will show you. He is the boss no matter what others say. awb

Shalom- is there any way you can work for yourself? mowing lawns ,puting in
sprinkler systems,start your own business?
Sometimes you have to step out with faith and prayer.
I pray Yahweh will guide you to a job in Yahshua,s name --- so be it

Blessings Tedack,

Here are my two cents... I would try to stay away from the conversation about the Sabbath when I am doing an interview for a job. A company/person can not discriminate because of a religious belief. I would act like it is not an issue at all, and then after I get hired I would act like it is something everyone should be doing and you do not understand why it would be an issue. The time to confront the issue (my opinion) is after you are hired. Then if they try and fire you, you have very good grounds for a civil right/discrimination lawsuit. There are many attorneys that would take that case for you....then you might just not have to work again. Hold them to THE LAW.

Peace,

may the Holy One open the door that is planned just for you where you will be able to perform His perfect will in obedience, and also be a witness to His Son and all His truth. do not let discouragement enter in - trust and continue seeking exactly what is in store for you as you take this need to the Father in prayer, confident that He shall provide for you, His servant.

let this be true in the authority of our Messiah King!

Really awb, mail carriers????

While working on the Sabbath might be justified in order to save life or alleviate suffering I hardly see how being a mail carrier would apply. If Messiah did not want us to cease from our work on the Shabbat, He would not have commanded us to do so. He said that it was lawful to do good on the Sabbath, and then gave an example of an emergency situation.

I suppose we can justify anything if we want to badly enough, but the truth is, it is not acceptable to take a job that requires us to work on the sabbath, unless it is for the reasons stated. Where do we draw the line? Do we have enough faith in Yahweh to believe that He will make a way for us when there seems to be no way?
Or do we take the easy way out, and do what seems right in our own eyes, regardless of His commands?

I don't know about you, but I am not a slave, nor is anyone I know., but even slaves are not to obey their masters if it means being disobedient to Yahweh, rather we should be willing to suffer the consequences for righteousness sake.

A fellow servant,
Shalom

I DID find a job, one that has a specifically stated policy of being sure to respect and accommodate those who keep a saturday sabbath!

As usual, it came about after I decided I must be wrong and that the sabbath is meant to only be spiritual; several people were telling me I was wrong and tried to prove it (they shocked themselves when they realized the scripture DOESN'T say it was changed! :-)

I told Him I know I'm usually wrong and that this must be yet another time but I was so depressed at the thought of working on the sabbath. Then not only was I offered this job but found that policy page! I was dancing all over the place with joy! And my friend that tried the hardest to tell me the sabbath was changed and that Utah is a right-to-work state so it's just too bad got to see it happen too.

Blessings Tadack,

I am soo glad to hear of your success in finding a job that fits! I am very interested in learning about the 'policy page'. Is there something that you could post and share with us?

What type of business?
What will you be doing?

May YHWH bless you with His Peace and make your depression disappear!

This is the most encouraging news I have read on this site in while.

Peace,

JourneyHome

Just a thought here...The 'right to work' statue does not trump the constitutional rights. A person/company can not discriminate because of religion and rely on the right to work statues to defend them. It would only include those situations that are not reserved with the 'higher law'.
