Subject: Pray for us here in Kenya

Shalom Brethren,
Greetings in the names of Yahweh and Yahshua.May the grace, peace and love of Yahweh our Elohim be upon you in the name of our Master and Savior Yahshua HaMashiach.I pray that this email finds you well.
We have trouble in our country following the results of the last general election. The ODM Party lost the election and claimed the elections results were rigged. The incumbent President was reelected. This has caused a great homicide mostly targeted at one ethnic tribe [ the Kikuyu] the tribe of the incumbent President Mwai Kibaki. There are tribal clashes in the most parts of the country, bloodshed very rampart, scores of innocent people killed every hour, houses set on flames, properties damaged and hunger has struck many. The business stands still and even cities deserted and desolate. The living standards have become extremely horrible. Many are without shelter, spending the long nights in the cold, women with their crying and wailing children in their feeble arms.A cry of hunger, thirst and cold has become normal. They got no place to call home. The poor structures they had were set ablaze by the arsonists.
I cannot forget to mention the Messianic [brethren in Yahshua] in such crucial points how they suffer and strive with sin, women are defiled, small girls abused and boys sodomized.Where they run for refuge they meet their death.About 70 innocent men, women and children were burnt to death in a church in the outskirts of Eldoret town when 800 men armed with bows and arrows attacked where they had sought refuge.
Mention to Yahweh in a special way our brethren in a place called Koru. All their houses, food stores, clothing, properties and of course their bibles have been torched and burnt into ashes. They got only 6 Policemen to stray the hundreds of the arsonists away.Their enemies are surrounding them ready to devour them. They are pleading to the government to find a way of evacuating them. This morning as i called Brother Mwaura from KORU nothing had been done.
Keep us in your prayers, that Yahweh forgive us all iniquities and heal our land as He has promised in the Holy Scriptures, [ 2 Chronicles 7:14 ; Daniel the 9TH Chapter ]and i believe Yahweh will hear our prayers and come to our help.
Yahweh bless you brethren as you remember us in your time to time prayers and supplications.

Your brother in Yahshua the Messiah,
Peter Ndung'u Mathu,

I have seen this on the news, and the situation is horrific. Oh Father, please move powerfully in this land, defeat those who would do evil and please bring peace and restoration. May Your Spirit protect and uplift those who know You, and may Your Name be glorified. In Yahushua's name, Amen.

Father, please hear our cries and end the violations of the innocent!

Father YHWH we need your grace, your peace, your will to prevail in Kenya and for you to rescue your children there from the enemy's slaughter.

I have been praying since the beginning of this horrific event and will continue to pray. I've been to Kenya...it's a place I truly, truly, in my heart, love. I have friends there who, sadly, I haven't heard from and I have no idea of their safety at this moment. My closest friend there is Luo, which is the tribe being persecuted. I haven't heard a word from her since last Saturday. The good news is that she'd just made a temporary move to Tanzania. The scary part, however, is that I'm not clear on whether she went home to vote or if she'd taken her children to Tanzania with her (she didn't want to move them from Kenya's school system). Also, her entire family was still in Kenya. It grieves my heart so deeply, I cannot even tell you. I was up until the wee hours of this morning telephoning, emailing, leaving messages and, still, nothing. I've tried to make contact with other friends there, too, and can't get a handle on if a single one of them are okay or not.

It's frightening, but I know that His will is being done, that He has neither left nor has He forsaken those who are trusting in Him.

(((Free)))

If we only knew what real persecution was perhaps we would have much more reverance for YHWH. I cannot fathom in my heart what they are going through there, but what I do know is the love you speak of.

May YHWH bless you richly, He hears the cry of the righteous. I too add my prayers for Luo, and for all of "ours" there...all who are YHWHs. I am comforted to know YHWH will never loose one of HIS. Praying a hedge of protection around the innocent, and...for conviction in the hearts of those doing these heinous crimes, to the point of repentance.

May YHWH also reward your love and compassion, and open doors for you with showers of blessings.

Love in Yahushua
Tamar

that is wonderful Free, Praise Yah!

When I read of the report Sis Tamar shared in her opening post, I was stunned and dismayed that these people will do such evil things, and why YHWH would permit it for to happen

But I am very glad that your friend and her family is safe, Free, praise Yah!!!

I don't understand why some? most? Kenya men do wicked things... what about the presence of their mothers, sisters, daughters, don't they (the men) have a sense of right and wrong??? I feel for these women who have to live with such people in their country There may be some men there who are kind and live right...

Sorry for my post while I struggle to understand.

Thank you, Tamar and Bluesun. I still feel horrible about what's happening there, but my soul is comforted in at least knowing that my friend, whom I dearly love, is safe at this moment.

Recent reports have also indicated that the chaos has considerably subsided, so our prayers are yet being answered still! HalleluYah!!!

<QUOTE>BLUESUN SAID: I don't understand why some? most? Yes, they do have a sense of right and wrong...absolutely!

Bluesun, on behalf of Kenyans everywhere, I just want to clarify a few points, if I may. Yes some horrible things have been happening in Kenya and, while many of them have happened to women, many of them have not been gender specific at all. In other words, men are being targeted as well. Many have been burned out of their homes, had their land destroyed, been killed by gunshot, machete, burnings, etc. There are even reports of young boys being sodomized and several men have also died after bleeding to death from forced circumcisions. It pains me to write that, but this is just a sampling of the ways in which men and boys are also being brutally victimized.

It's important to note, however, that this is not typical of Kenya or Kenyan men. Kenya is one of the few African countries that enjoys a great relationship with the West, has a lot of foreign investors and, despite the corruption (and alleged corruption) which has plagued their government since their independence some 45 years ago, they've enjoyed a pretty stable country and society. In general, Kenyans are very generous, hospitable, gentle people. Now this isn't to say that all are this way (just like any country, there are good and bad), but for the most part I've found my visits to be in stark contrast even to what we find here in the U.S. In most places, Kenyans will bend over backwards for the comfort of their neighbors. The only poor treatment I ever received there was once having some vulgar gestures made to me by a group of young men (who looked a little thuggish) while taking photos on a bus and another time I was treated quite rudely by a group of muslims when I'd wandered into their part of town and attempted to buy a few items. And, even in this instance, these men weren't native Kenyans (they were either Sudanese or Ethiopian, not sure which) and who I was later told to avoid as much as possible for the duration of my time there.

This entire situation took most by surprise because Kenya was the least likely country on the eastern coast to ever experience such mass violence between tribes. The media reports will have you to believe that tribal tensions run deep in Kenya, but really nothing could be further from the truth...especially not in Nairobi. First, unlike the situation in Rwanda where there were only 2 main tribes, Kenya is a diverse country with many different tribes. Most of the country is Christian and most live, work and worship side by side without issue. Marriages are even quite common between tribes (something you'd never find if there was overwhelming tension between tribes). While it's true that, politically, power is usually split between Luo or Kikuyu because they are the largest tribes, there's seldom violence between the two. Many who are participating in today's violence, however, are rogue thugs who are mostly young people and on the wrong side of the law, so to speak, to begin with (and every country has a subgroup like this, unfortunately). Many are fed up, without hope and just needing a reason to lash out. Dirt poor, lacking in education and feeling disenfranchised, many of these young men were looking to Odinga as the answer to their woes. (Kibaki's done A LOT of good in Kenya, but his presidency hasn't been without allegations of corruption and favoritism). When he didn't win the presidency, many of these young people took their anger to the streets. In the beginning, however, it was mostly burning structures, turning over stalls, breaking windows and that sort of thing. The physical violence against citizens was originally introduced by the police who met protesters with violent force. Some have even anonymously stated that they did so under direct command from the Kenyan government. Whether commanded to do so or not, initial reports clearly have the police being the first to use actual physical violence on the people (protesters).

Since then, however, the violence has escalated as pirate radio stations have been holding 24 hour broadcasts of constant hate rhetoric along tribal lines and some from Uganda have even crossed over into the country to participate as they'd previously had issues with the Luo tribe from a situation which took place in Uganda during the mid-90's. It's even been speculated that some of the most violent crimes have been committed by men who've been paid to carry out these most horrific acts in an attempt to keep strife brewing so that other powers that be, who weren't even publicly aiming for presidency, can take control of the country! Again, this has come as a surprise to most outside of the country and especially to Kenyans as few ever saw this coming based on the overall stability there especially since Moi's eviction from office (Moi was their first president).

All this is to say that, yes, some bad Kenyans are participating, but this type of physical violence, for the most part, is not typical of Kenyan men or Kenyan people in general, but rather is the special interest of certain groups who've spotted a weakness in the discontent over the elections and have decided to use that weakness in an attempt to ultimately divide and conquer the country.

Without going into an even longer perspective of events, it's important to also note that neither Kibaki, nor Odinga are doing much to help quell the violence either (which is a whole 'nother story entirely). Although, to his credit, Kibaki has made gestures to reach out to Odinga in an attempt to negotiate some sort of agreement and even share office. Odinga, however, has rejected each and every one of them.

So sorry to take up so much space in an attempt to explain some of this, but I fear that Kenyans will get a bad rap as being a violent country with deep tribal tensions when it was anything but this prior to a week ago.

Unlike, say, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Rwanda, Sudan and others, this is a very different, highly unusual situation in Kenya. Besides the Mau Mau revolution (when Kenya was struggling to be free from British occupation) and aside from a brief uprising during Moi's presidency (which he QUICKLY squashed), Kenya doesn't have a violent history (and even those were aimed at oppressive leaders, NOT one another).

Bluesun, thank you for caring. Although this baffles your heart, I can tell that your Spirit has deep compassion for suffering people. Trust and believe that Elohim is continuing to work in Kenya despite this unfortunate turn of events. In my visits there, I've never met a group of people more sincere in their worship and hunger for the Word. They may not know the names (yet), but I believe He still hears their prayers! (I know many will disagree here, but oh well...)

Let us continue to pray!
