shalom all,

was wondering if you can help out here... there are so many movies that are questionable, even PG ones...

For food, we have K symbols to show which ones are kosher (clean)...

Is there something similar to this for movies?

Does anyone know of a place where they have a list of movies suitable for messianics (or christians) that we can enjoy?

Please share... your feedback will be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Well they are more geared toward Xtians.. but I remember them from being a kid..what about Jesus of Nazareth, The Story of Ruth, um.. The Ten Commandments, Sampson and Delilah.. I actually liked those movies even though they didn't exactly stick to iron clad Scripture.. but I mean it's Hollyweird..so you know you are gonna get "fluff". I bet amazon dot com has them.

I think the "G" rating is for general audiences.. no cursing, no sex stuff, etc.

Here are a few websites I found for you:

Check out

Hey did you ever find a shampoo and conditioner you were asking about ?? I saw you had a thread about it once and I didn't understand exactly what you meant and I forgot about it.. so I didn't respond. But if you are still looking try BURTS BEES WAX. I love their products! You could also go to Sephora dot com and look under organic and natural products. And OJON makes a rub out dry shampoo.. you may wanna check out.

Shalom Bluesun,

I am not sure what kind of movies you like. However I will toss a few your way.

"The Ten Commandments" - 2006 with Moses played by Dougray Scott. Now I am a big fan of 10 commandments movies, and especially the 1956 version. However I have always wished that a full movie would be dedicated to the story from after the crossing of the Red Sea until crossing the Jordan.

Well the first half was a little bit B movie like, with all the plagues and the tornado of fire, etc. But this is a 2 DVD set and the second DVD is where the real treasure is. It starts right after the crossing, and the story becomes less about miracles and more about the human condition and issues of justice and law and mercy. Moses' character becomes multi-dimensional and it is a pleasure to watch. They don't make it all the way to the Jordan, but this movie is really worth it for part II.

"Big Fat Liar" - 2002 - Starring Franky Muniz. Great fun movie with a moral lesson that isn't preachy at all. Kids will love it, adults too if you like funny movies.

"See Spot Run" - 2001 - starring David Arquette. Tons of funny gags that kids will love. The humour is slightly cruder than the aforementioned movie.

"The Matrix" - 1999 - starring Keanu Reeves. This one is for the older teens and adults. Has a great story which is to wake people up about the kind of society we are evolving into. Tons of violence and action in a science fiction setting, but not bloody.

Do you like documentary, educational, drama, true story, science fiction, comedy, bible story movies, historical?

hi Missy,

I didn't know they had "The Story of Ruth", it's one of my favourites in the Scriptures, I'd like to see that!

Thanks for the website links!

About the hair, I replied to your post in the other thread to Free Indeed before I checked in here. The Ojon rub out dry shampoo sounds good, I'd like to try that one... I am not sure if they sell them in Australia but should be no problem as it can be purchased online. (Great thing about technology nowadays).

Thanks for sharing smile

hi Voice_of_Reason,

The kind that I like are comedy and detective ones. My favourite movie is Ben Hur, by Charles Heston... that was sooooo good!

I haven't seen the 2006 version of "The Ten Commandments", the second DVD sounds interesting. Should be good to watch.

The movies that you listed, will do keep them in handy.

Thanks so much for sharing, appreciate the info smile

Feature Films for Families has movies; they're mostly for kids but not all. My boys watched Scamper the Penguin when they were little, it's a video not a DVD, it still works and now it's a favorite for my grandchildren.
I don't know if you'll find what you're looking for but it may be worth a look.

Shalom John,

I wanted to ask you earlier, what is the deal with you promoting Christian videos?

Greetings VOR,

Believe it or not, I just saw your post for the first time. I wasn't promoting Christian videos in general. Bluesun asked for a list of videos suitable for messianics or Christians. There are many good Christian videos that are suitable for Christians. Some of those are suitable for messianics as well. As with anything, we need to have discernment in the choices we make. I certainly would not promote a video that supports the trinity, sabbath breaking, etc., but would have no problem recommending Christian videos like "The Hiding Place", "Hidden In Silence", etc.

Shabbat Shalom,
John
