Shalom to all,
i grew up reading and thoroughly enjoying comics - but the majority of material out there is truly not edifying and even in many instances against the Word of the Father in content and depiction.
that is changing, and in a great way.
www.nextmanga.com this site has information about faith-based projects aimed at bringing the true message of Scripture to young people today.
i found and bought a copy of MESSIAH, which is a rendering of the 4 accounts of the Good News into one complete story, and i was very surprised at how authentic the book attempts to be with the message.
the art is stylized manga (a Japanes form of detailed cartoon), and on the bottom of each page are the Scripture passages listed where you can read the actual events that are depicted on the page.
what's more, the presentation of the work is something you don't see in modern Christian presentations of the Good News: Messiah is called "YESHUAH" throughout, His parents are called "YOSEF" and "MIRYAM." the English title "GOD" is still employed, however. you will see men wearing the tallits with tzitzit and the Pharisees with tefillin on their foreheads, as well. the inscription on the cross even shows the three different languages written out clearly for all to see. the attention to 1st-century Torah and cultural detail is evident all over the place.
for those who may have young boys or girls who would enjoy a closer rendition of the Good News accounts than is normally presented in Christian media, i would suggest checking this out. i found a copy for sale at Wal-Mart, of all places!
just thought i would pass on the interesting news.
