Hello, I just recently found this site and have been enjoying it very much, whether I agree with everything or not. I thought I would introduce myself. I live in central Arizona north of Prescoott by about 40 minutes out in the sticks (I love it, peaceful) I am blessed to be a stay at home mom. I homeschool my children, we do not believe in the public school system and what they teach our children. We have horses, saddle pleasure horses and miniature horses. We also have goats that we milk and make cheese and butter(and icecream yumm). We also have chickens for eggs(Ilove farm fresh eggs). We have four dogs and a cat. We do all our own home canning, lotion and soap making( regular bar soap, shampoo, laundry soap and household cleaner) because we don't like all of the excess chemicals and junk that are added to every thing!! Why I have time to write this I don't know, will have to get busy soon!!!

Have been of the "church" for quite a few years, I thank Yahweh for the "church" or I wouldn't be where I am now. I used to sit in church and listen to the sermon and then read the scriptures before and after a scripture reference and wonder why it seemed to mean something else other than what was being said I would miss whole parts of the sermon sitting there reading scripture(silly huh,ha ha). But a few years ago a burning desire formed in my heart to know the hebraic roots of my faith although I didn't know that there was a term for it, I thought I was just a nut!! I used to search the old Testament and do things like follow geneologies and tell people how cool it was and they looked at me like I was from mars or something. Somebody gave me a messianic catolog and I kept that thing for years not knowing what the stuff in it was, I just held onto it knowing it was part of my hunger to know more. The person who gave me the catolog also told me I should learn Davidic dancing. A few years whent by and I heard an announcement that a messianic congregation was having their opening shabbat service, oh boy I was there and have found some other people that were just as big of nuts as myself. I have noticed that messianics can have alot of issues but we have stayed small and tried to keep to the things of Yahweh and not let problems come in and take over. And we also do Davidic dancing(yaaay). I have so enjoyed the huge amount of searching and learning I have done in the last year and a half. There is no going back to the "normal" way of belief. At least now I have more of a focus in my searching and learning. I thank Yahweh for His guidance in my life and I am so humbled that He chose me out, I am not so worthy or special, I think I just have a teachable heart. And I LOVE to listen to my Abba.

Thank you. Do you live near here? We are from central Oregon and we really love it here. Central Oregon is just like here but with a whole lot more winter, we like this much better.

Hello Angel,
Yes I can tell you how to make homemade laundry soap.
I went to www.millersoap.com to learn how to make soap ( I use Rachaels tried and true recipe). I suppose any bar soap would work but homemade has more cleaning power & is more softening (even on clothes).
O.K. here is the recipe:

16 oz. grated soap (by weight)
1 gallon water
16 fluid oz. vinegar
1 cup borax (20 Mule Team-grocery store in laundry aisle)
1 cup Arm & Hammer washing soda (not baking soda-located near borax in store)
1 bottle orange essential oil-to cut grease-optional (find at health food store or order from www.mountainroseherbs.com )

Put all ingredients into a pot on stove and warm and melt slowly ( stir occasionaly). When it is all melted put into a covered bucket (will turn gel like). Use 1 cup per load of laundry.
I usually make 2-3 gallons at a time, and I add a little extra borax into the wash load, like about a half cup or so.

This soap cleans better than store bought and is also very softening. I also use it around the house as a cleaner it works amazingly well, it gets the built up grease right off of the counters and walls around the stove. It also whitens my sink I no longer need to bleach my sink, I just keep a pump bottle mixed with about a third water by my sink and use it oround the kitchen (great in the bathroom also)

I hope this helps. If you have any questions just let me know.

Candy

Candy,

thank you so much. I was wondering how you grate the soap, do you use a hand grater, like the kind for shredded cheese? How long does it take you to make a batch?

Warmly,

angeL

Angel,

To grate the soap you can use any grater, a hand grater would work fine. Personally I really dislike to grate things so I use the grater on my food processer. It takes probably about an hour to make it, although I have never timed it so it could take up to 2 hours but I would say no more than that. Hope you enjoy the recipe

Shalom & welcome!
I see you have goats for milk, do you ever make goat milk soap? The woman I bought my first nubians from makes wonderful homemade goat mild soaps and has actually got a nice business going from marketing them. She actually has almost more orders than she can handle. But I love homemade soaps.

I also have chickens for eggs, horses - quarter and miniture, an angus bull (for the freezer) and lambs. We raise Great Pyr guard dogs, just sold the last puppy from a litter of 12 today

I admire you for homeschooling. I have 6 children with 10 years from oldest to youngest and could not imagine trying to homeschool them. I do it while they are younger but then have no choice but to put them into public school. I just make sure to talk lots with them and continue to train them in Yah's word.

Anyway, welcome and be blessed!

Hello, Thank you for the nice welcome. Yes I do make goats milk soap. I just did my first batch not too long ago, I was waiting to find the right recipe. It is very creamy and rich! No I don't really sell the soaps just the lotion.

Do you raise miniature horses? we just started breeding miniature appaloosas. It is amazing when you take the cart out how many people run out to talk to you, they don't do that with saddle horses. We also raise Nubian goats, I like their milk so much better than the Alpine milk (we used to have Alpines). We just butchered a bull this last fall and put it in the freezer, we did it ourselves we didn't send it to the meat packer. We have miniature Australian Shepherds but we don't raise them.

I love homeschooling, we have found the easiest curriculum for both the kids and myself. I love to watch the learning process, and the fact that they know creation and not evolution and everything else the world can come up with.

Well I just wanted to respond and say thank you for the nice response

shalom Candy,

I enjoyed reading your posts about your making shampoos, cleaners, etc... do you have a website sharing the recipes on how to make them?

Lately my mother and I have been trying to find chemical-free products.

thanks,

Hello Bluesun,

Yes I do enjoy making things so that I know what is in them, because I also do not like all of the chemicals that they put in everything. I also do my own canning and butchering (my husband butchers I just wrap and freeze) for the same reason.
In answer to your question, no I do not have a website set up. I do recommend www.millersoap.com to learn how to make soap, I have printed out alot of the pages on her website to keep on file to refer back to and to copy for anybody who is interested. She also sells soap on her site. She does not have shampoo bar or lotion recipes, so if you would like any of those I will gladly pass my recipes on to you. If you wanted to try any of these items out before jumping in I would be glad to send you some to try out.

in YHWH,
Candy

Hello Candy,
Praise Yahweh that you found this site. It is a wonderful blessing. Is your name short for Candice? My english name is Candice and my husband and I were just forced to leave Prescott Valley. We are praying for provision to move back there because we are not surviving where we are. It is so wonderful to hear about how you provide the natural things for your family. I have wanted to make soap and shampoo for a long time, but have not been able to afford the book I found that also teaches you how to make deodorant and lotions along with other things. What town do you live in? Well, nice to have you here. May Yahweh richly bless you!
In His love and service until the end,
Tahar
