Anybody have advice on a good starting passage of
scripture for a 12 year old boy to start with? He's
heard and read all the kids' bible stories and has
learned some verses by singing them, he's very musical.
But he's just starting to mature in his thinking and
i'd like to find a whole passage that we could recite
together daily and learn. I thought at first that it
should be something character related that would have
immediate relevance in his life, but i don't want him
to feel judged by me by what i choose, like saying,
"This is a problem for you, you better hear what Yahweh
has to say about that!" Not that i would ever say that,
but i don't want him to take it that way.
Just writing this is helping, i think i want something
that discusses the majesty of the Father, His presence
in our lives, something a child can experience and under-
stand.
-----------------------
Something encouraging and comforting, ever present help in
time of need, i remember that part of a passage... maybe if
i keep this up, i'll come up with the right one. I pray about
it and then think it's ridiculous to do so since ALL of
scripture is what he needs...

Shalom, Tedack

From what you have said here:

"i think i want something
that discusses the majesty of the Father, His presence
in our lives, something a child can experience and under-
stand."

and here:

"Something encouraging and comforting, ever present help in
time of need,"

Sounds like the books of Psalms and Proverbs, which are my favorite books of encouragement.

Blessings, duane

Thank you, duane. I do love the Psalms, i had to memorize
some of them for school long ago, i find myself reading
there a lot. Since my son is a musician and the psalms are
songs, maybe he can put one to music, he and my niece and
some friends tried that before.

FROM ELIYAH'S SABBATH TALK:
The night cometh when no man can open the scriptures except
from what He hid in his heart during the times of plenty.

I'm just now reading this, i copied and pasted it because i can't
stay online long enough to read it. This just after i started
seriously searching for what to help my son learn from scripture...

-----------------------------
Okay, i just read the rest of the message and almost everything
related immediately and directly to what's going on with me now,
even the very verse - ever present help in time of trouble that
i mentioned in the first post about my son. Maybe i was SUPPOSED
to read it today, very cool, i like things like that.
