Hello,
I requested prayer for my nephew, Zane, who was born premature a week ago on the Sabbath. I am giving an update to those who are keeping him in prayer and to those who would like to send a word up today. thank you for your prayers today! The update comes from Zane's grandmother, Annie............

Good Evening!
Zane has had another good day, and we are so thankful! His blood pressure, blood oxygen seem to be pretty stable the last few days. They did have to do a procedure in the night when one of his chest tubes got clogged and they had to replace it. The doctor took care of him immediately and called Mandy and David after the procedure. It scared them greatly to get the call from the hospital, but the first thing the doctor said to Mandy was "Zane is OK" before telling her what had happened.

Mandy held him for about 3 hours today. His new nurse wasn't sure she wanted to let Mandy hold him since they had done the chest tube procedure during the night, but David asked the doctor who said that Mandy is to hold him EVERY day. I love watching the two of them together, they look so peaceful! David and Mandy are there each day for Zane's 8 AM, 2 PM and 8 PM feeding, bathing and diaper change, and do most of it themselves. Bathing is just wiping his face, eyes, mouth and head and feeding is holding the syringe attached to the feeding tube. He has digested his 1 mil of Mandy's milk with each feeding, which is great. His little kidneys work well, too, and it usually takes a couple of diapers to get him changed since he wets as soon as they take one diaper off. His diapers are about 3" tall and 2" wide and the front has to be folded down almost in half to fit him!

God has given all of us peace and strength to get through these days as we wait for the next brain scan on Tuesday. It takes all of our time and energy right now just concentrating on caring for this beautiful, strong little fighter! We pray for him constantly, and gather together to pray several times each day.

Thanks for your continuing prayers!
Love,
Anne

Hello and blessed day to you all. Here is an update on Zane. Zane was born premature on 8/25/07 and has been progressing well. I have received another update from Anne, Zane's grandma and Mandy's mother. I am Zane's great aunt through Zane's daddy, David. Anne and her husband John own Apple Annie's, their business in the little town I am from. I will paste their website link here so you can check it out. They are pretty neat people. Thanks again to all who are keeping their family in prayer........it means much.......Becky
http://www.appleannies.com/about_us.php Anyway, here is the update from Anne:

Good Evening!
This has been another good day for Baby Zane! His wonderful nurse, Beth, says that he is "critically stable". His labs are stable, however, he remains on the oscillating ventilator until his lung fully heals from last weeks tear and the chest tubes can be removed.

John and I got to "babysit" today while Mandy and David went to get a special pillow that she needs for holding him. We were assisted by the most expensive "baby-sitters" in the world, the nursing team in the NICU! We just sat and watched him and soaked him in! She was able to hold him for several hours again today, and Zane tolerates the moves very well. He seems to know that he is being taken to Mommy!

John and I left the hospital this afternoon (man, was that hard!!!) and came home to check on things at the orchard. We have been incredibly blessed to have John's sister Linda and her husband come to stay in Willcox through October to help take care of Apple Annie's so that John and I can take care of our family. They are a tremendous help and encouragement! Sister-in-law Cyndi and neice, Megan, also were here for the weekend to help. Things went great and they took great care of a busy weekend! Our staff, too, has gone above and beyond to help keep things running smoothly! We are blessed!

John and I will be returning to Tucson on Tuesday to be with Mandy and David while Zane has his next brain scan and the results. The Lord has given us amazing peace about this and we're just trusting Him for the results.

Thanks for your continuing prayers and support!
Anne
